A budget stay right next to the train station, about 10 min walk to the fishing harbour. The capsules are basic but adequate for a solo traveler. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Nice place that is super near the train station. Will need to take a bus to get to the popular spots like Hell valley, but it’s convenient since the bus stops is nearby. The room is clean and cosy. Common area is rather large as well. Breakfast is basic with bread and cereal, nothing to shout about. Great for solo travellers

Front desk attendant was very friendly and polite - please be aware that you may have to knock on the glass front door if you do not yet have your access PIN as it is often locked. Small lockers for luggage (backpack size) are available free of charge - you will either require a small padlock or purchase one for just 100yen in the machine next to the lockers. In accordance with its price, the room furnishings are of simple wooden construction but very spacious inside and have a nice natural scent of pine as you sleep 😌. Plenty of shared access amenities such as guest fridge, freezer, microwave, etc. Location is ideal as it is next to JR noboribetsu station, from which you can pay roughly ¥650 for a round trip (12 minutes each way) bus ticket to Hell valley (jigokudani). Incredible alternative to a stay in the large hotels up there for travellers on a budget, particularly as most hotels will sell access to their onsens to non-guests for around ¥2,000!

The sanitation is good and the bed is big enough, but I have never encountered a hotel that only allows check-in until 21:00 and deducts the full payment. In Europe, even if there is no one at the front desk, a password will be given to allow guests to check in by themselves. Ctrip should also remind guests of this. Otherwise, you will become a stray dog like me, wandering the streets of a foreign country in the middle of the night.

The only drawback may be the unstable temperature due to the rain, everything else is good, the location is not bad, it is a bit far from the convenience store but there are great izakayas nearby, free breakfast is provided, and the owner is very warm and friendly.

Overall it was very clean. Although it wasn't open 24 hours, there was a convenience store nearby, which was convenient. There was also a shared sauna on the first floor, which I enjoyed.
