We spend 4 nights with my family. Roads leading to the place are not good at all. However views from the gate to the reception are spectacular. Check in was quick. We booked at the equestrian which is a bit far from the reception. Our two bedroom villa was big enough. We used 1818 restaurant most of the time. We even braided on our last night. There are activities to do inside the estate, including fly fishing. We visited Highland gate golf and Trout Estate. We also went to Milly”s Farmstall and restaurant. It’s peaceful and quiet. I would definitely go back.

Dunkeld Country Estate was the perfect getaway for our group of friends! We had an amazing time horse riding and quad biking—such fun and well-organised activities. The tea garden braai was a fantastic experience, and the jazz bar had such a great vibe, making for the perfect evening. The estate itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. The farmyard was a lovely touch, adding to the charm of the place. Highly recommend for a fun and relaxing escape!

What a beautiful setting. All the right ingredients. Coloured huge leaves decorated the lawns with the autumn colours. Big shiny trout dams glittering in the sunlight. Overpowering trees with mysterious shades in the woods. Beautiful chalets built with rocks. This place had it all. It took my breath away. Soon to be disappointed. The unit was put together by unqualified people. Misaligned cupboards and drawers, drawers not closings, extractor fan installed sky high in the air, lights installed in dysfunctional places, dirty toilet under the rim, bathroom tiles filthy. The indoor swimming pool was milky. There were 2 huge holes on one of the dam's edges. Very easy for a fisherman to break a leg there. One could see that it was there for a long time. The bicycles were unavailable or broken. The tuck shop had 3 ice creams in stock. I bought 1 and it was frozen, melted and refrozen, not good. The receptionists were very friendly. The lady at the retail shop was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good. They just played the same music every day for a whole week long. Rather frustrating. We did complain but apparently that was the manager's instruction to use only that music selection. In this day and age with the variety available at a rather low cost, that is really unacceptable. The food was excellent. David , the fly fishing coach was a star. All in all it still was a memorable stay. We will go back again. It is a lovely setting, but we do expect the Top Management of the group to pull up their socks. It is a beautiful place. It just needs attention to detail and a firm hand. It is a pity to see that such a beautiful venue is busy falling to pieces.

I really cannot rate this place enough!! I have never written a review before and we have stayed all around the world. It really is the MOST magical place! The grounds are absolutely beautiful! On my evening runs I was 2 metres away from zebras! SO much wildlife! The horses are so beautiful and treated amazingly- tehey are let out every evening to roam the grounds freely and come back themselves every morning. I saw some horrible reviews so was nervous which is why I had to write. I cannot fault the place! The staff were amazing, the food was amazing. Make sure when you check in you ask for a map and ask for everything they have on offer as they don't really advertise. I would recommend on day 1 going for a long walk around the grounds and getting a feel for the place. The two restaurants are on opposite ends of the property so you have to drive and one is closer to games area and other side closer to reception where you book everything. So many amazing places for fly fishing (the kids and I had a lesson which we loved) and also the horse rides are an absolute must! We were walking at sunset through a huge zeal of zebras! It really was so amazing! We went from here to Camps bay in Cape Town and I preferred here. The rooms aren't fancy here more lot cabin like but very comfortable and well built two stories w kitchen/ bathroom/ large bedrooms and comfy beds. But the place is so beautiful you won't be in your rooms much! Dunks the town was quaint and gorgeous too with lovely shops and restaurants. Can you tell I loved the place haha . We will be back!!!

WOW WOW WOW - I had theee most incredible break away ! I booked at Dunkeld only because they had horses :) and I was very looking forward to an amazing outride. We stayed on the Equestrian Estate self catering. Absolutely everything was amazing EXCEPT for ONE thing only ! It was July - it was KAK cold , and there were no heaters, no electric blankets , the rooms were colder than a butchers freezer !!!! we absolutely froze, it was so cold. We bought ourselves beanies and slept with them on and all our clothes. The fireplace is in the lounge area which was blocked off from the bedrooms. The lounge was cozy and very warm with the fire going, but the bedrooms were insanely cold !!!! So just a heads up if you visit in winter ! It's MOER cold :) - Apart from that - Ive booked SAME PLACE this weekend , but going prepared with my own hot water bottles and warm pyjamas this time. LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!!!

Stunning Views, Disappointing Hospitality The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with stunning views that made for a picture-perfect setting. However, the hospitality was far from welcoming. There was little to no customer care, and it felt like guest satisfaction was not a priority. Basic requests were either ignored or met with indifference, making the experience frustrating rather than relaxing. It’s a shame that such a beautiful location is let down by poor service, especially at reception and the restaurant. We had plaster falling off the wall in equestrian 26A. I see there have been multiple reviews about this and no change. Wouldn’t return unless major improvements are made.

Unfortunately, my stay at this accommodation was far from pleasant. The property was dirty and run down, in desperate need of a serious upgrade. It looked like it hadn’t been deep cleaned in quite a while, with cobwebs in the bathrooms, we had to place towels on the shower floor and all over the bathroom. The couches desperately need to be replaced, we found it disgusting to sit on. There was visible thick dust on the lighting fixtures and paintings. A window in the room was broken. However, there were a few positives that saved the experience. The view from the property was absolutely stunning, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Additionally, the activities offered were well-priced, which made for some enjoyable moments. All in all, while the location has potential, it really needs to be addressed in terms of cleanliness and maintenance before I could recommend it to others.

Wow, wow, what an amazing hidden gem Dunkeld Equestrian is! I was truly mesmerized by the beauty it offered. The hotel rooms were charmingly decorated, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The General Manager was kind enough to show me the chalets, which are ideal for families. Some of these chalets overlook a serene lake where you can enjoy fly fishing. The best part of this resort is its family-friendly environment. My kids had an absolute blast with the various activities available. The food was delicious, satisfying every craving. I will definitely visit Dunkeld Equestrian again—it's a place that offers unforgettable experiences and cherished memories.
