mixed review. some really excellent points and then some real improvement needed too. excellent: the food and beverage manager and restaurant staff were always friendly and the food was excellent (though I think the price of a beverages is outrageous). the Thai curry is highly recommended. the pools and spa pools are great the room is nice and the whole building is beautiful. a birthday cake and card to celebrate was very special and thoughtful. to improve: the cocktails we're awful each time we tried a new one...the ingredients were listed but not all present in the drink the check in and checkout - first and last impressions need to be improved. check in we didn't receive a friendly smile to guide us to the counter, check out was a long queue during the busy time, more shuttle cars are required, we had several 20-30minutes wait times and guests act a bit silly and selfish, pushing to get on the shuttle bus even when families with small children where waiting longer. it was 40degrees Celsius so walking was not a safe option. I had to call three times to get housekeeping on the first day and was told usually housekeeping only come every second day, which doesn't make sense. I don't need my bed made or towels changed, but I do need the trash removed daily. a bit of a strange policy for a pretty expensive hotel. the play are for kids is nice and the staff are generally friendly and patient. very mixed review I'm afraid.

I decided to take a short trip to Ningbo and booked a hotel on the way. Because Dongqian Lake is still a 40-50 minute drive from Ningbo city, it was almost 10pm before going to the hotel after having dinner in the city. The hotel is a group of villas. Each villa probably has at least 4-5 rooms, a large flat floor, a bathing space as big as a room, a round bathtub, and even a sauna. It feels like houses should have been designed for targeted groups in the past. The next morning I had the opportunity to take a look at the outside environment. I saw adults playing ball with their children and setting up tents. It is suitable for friends and more lively if there are more families living together. You have to drive inside, so self-driving is more convenient. It's quite big and there's still a lot of construction going on. After it's completed, the courtyard-style environment should be more comfortable. You won't have to go to Dongqian Lake to play when you stay there. There were some hiccups during the stay, but the manager responsible for solving the problem was very responsive and capable. After being solved quickly, we will be in a good mood on the last day of 2023.

My cousin’s ancestral home is Dongqian Lake, but he is now in Shanghai. The child is going to elementary school, and the family is going back to their hometown to play. This is a newly opened hotel with a very good location. As a Dongqian Lake person, I usually drive by and always look back. I booked two nights and could see Dongqian Lake directly through the window. I booked a lake view room. When I consulted the hotel, I was told that the lake view room only had a 2-meter bed. Since we are a family of three (the child is 7 years old), I booked an extra crib. Unexpectedly, after the guest arrived, he made it clear that he did not need an extra bed. It was already past 10 o'clock at night. The extra bed was cancelled, but the bed was not removed. When checking out, I found that the extra breakfast coupon for the extra bed had been used (the child was just over 1.2 meters tall). After explaining the situation, no extra bed fee was charged, nor was the booked extra bed breakfast fee. Very personal service. Absolute five-star service!

In the spring season, we chose to travel to Dongqian Lake in Ningbo. We chose this Narada Hotel on Ctrip. I visited Ningbo for the 1st time and had a nice time. This property is very well kept, clean and wonderful customer service. Unfortunately they had to close the indoor swimming pool, and that was a bit disappointing as I came prepared to swim, but understandable. Overall, I will be back for sure.Thank you for a good stay! When I arrived at the store on Friday, my friends in Ningbo may have just been in good health, and there were very few customers and staff. The front desk helped us upgrade the lake view room. As soon as I arrived at the room, I felt that the strong state-run wind was not enough for foreign style. The next morning, the morning dawned, and the misty lake view came in. The room seemed to have changed, and it was very beautiful. In the afternoon, I went to Park Hyatt to do a walk around and made a comparison. I couldn’t compare the rooms without going there, but in terms of scenery, Qianhu Hotel is definitely the first-tier hotel. Meals: There is no room service on the first night, only 88 yuan for a boxed meal. Saturday breakfast is a semi-buffet. You have to order steamed and fried noodle soup the night before, and you have to wait for half an hour on the day. This is not very friendly. It may be due to the epidemic, but the seafood porridge and Ningbo gnocchi are particularly delicious. Many waiters and chefs came back to work on Saturday afternoon, and they ate the hotel's Man Ting Fang in the evening, with no success. Like all garden-style hotels, the swimming pool can only be reached by battery car. There is no way, probably because the place is too big. The swimming pool needs to be highly praised. It is quite big and really good. The service is generally good, but my sister still needs to ask for the room number and charge for more than 4 bottles of mineral water when driving the battery car. I think the hotel can actually be more generous, which will improve the hotel's grade.

This is a very pleasant little bed and breakfast located on the southern end of Dongqian Lake and in the tourist village Hanling. We stayed there for a weekend getaway. The accommodation we booked had two floors: the groundfloor had a sofa and a huge television (it's capable mobile phone broadcasting!) and the top floor featured a good size double bed and a balcony which I enjoyed sitting in when the sun sets. The rooms are clean and you get the usual amenities. So it's a fine place. I would recommend two improvements: the first is to have stronger aircon on the top floor to keep the room cool (albeit it was 40C outside!); and secondly but most importantly would be to install a bathroom door for some privacy otherwise your room mate is going to see you using the toilet!

Top in terms of location, facilities, staff friendliness and room standards. Zero stars for the quality of the dining experience, I'm afraid. Mediocre local dishes hopelessly overpriced and way below average by Ningbonese standards. Could have gone to Hanling village down the road or a bit further into Yinzhou for the same or similar dishes at a tenth of the price (and better quality). We felt it was quite an insult and if it hadn't been rather late and we hadn't been starving, we would have gotten up again and jumped in a Didi. My workplace canteen offers similar local dishes at less than 10 kuai/dish (ok, not a valid comparison, I must admit, but even the most expensive local restos don't charge more than 50 kuai either and provide bigger size portions and tastier). The portions were tiny and starters were priced on average at 100+ kuai while the mains, the size of starters, were on average 220+ kuai. Hardly reasonable for some seasonal veggies and 10 tiny rubbery beef cubes. The white wine hadn't been cooled (happens all the time but kinda unexpected if you pay 4,000 kuai a night for a resort in one of Ningbo's prime locations) and it was a cheap bottle priced at nearly 80 kuai a glass. Having stayed in a variety of luxury lakeside venues across Zhejiang over the years, we were pretty taken aback. For me it was the worst value for money food experience during my entire time in China. We loved our suite, the fitness facilities as well as the architecture of the entire resort though. The service was pretty professional and friendly even though hardly anyone speaks English which is surprising given that this place is regularly frequented by non-Chinese speakers from the local areas nearby (and we saw plenty of those for lunch). Also, in comparison to similar properties across Ningbo and Zhejiang, the breakfast was the worst also. Never mind the continental and English style brekkies (sometimes difficult to get right, we get that), even the Chinese dishes were mediocre (such as the soups, fried items etc) which was surprising. Should we return (we practically live down the road), we'll not spend a single penny on food in this place.
