The hotel itself is amazing but: - Shower door did not close properly and therefore we got "floods" everyday in the toilet. - Mosquitos: I do understand that we are in a "wild" enviroment but it was amazing every time we open the curtain of the terrace how were falling many mosquitos. During the night, going to the toilet was an expirience as well. Too many mosquitos...they should try to do something with this. - Meals: they do not include beverage, its normal until you are charged 3'5€ for an opened bottle of water when they should serve or at least give the option to have it for free since the law says that. - Checkin: the girl of the counter just told us, "hey scan this QR code and everything is explained", why shall I download an app of the hotel? is it so hard to explain just in few second all the activities of the hotel? - Breakfast: Bakery quality worse than any other hotel I tried... Speaking about amenities hotel is perfect, big pools, nice decoration, buffet was ok and it has direct access to the beach. Its a pity that the service is not at Barcelo level standards.

We appreciated that our room was spacious and had a nice view. After parking our car it was not easy to find the elevators to get up to reception. You must find a narrow door (that looks like an emergency exit) and is poorly labelled (grey print on white background) in a poorly lit area. We had trouble getting our room warm enough. We ordered room service but it was delivered without the plates covered so our food was not hot. Breakfast had some vegan options but we had to ask for soy milk. The cook was very kind and made us a special plate of cooked vegetables. All the staff were very friendly and patient as I practiced my poor Spanish. The building needs some maintenance.

The location is a bit out of the way and not much in the local town. Weather was amazing and the food was very varied and plentiful. It’s mainly for Spanish guests so entertainment is all in Spanish. We were sort of out of main season so entertainment wasn’t regular but the good point was the pools always had lots of sun beds. The staff are amazing especially the bar staff both at the pool bar and the lobby bar. Taxi into Almeria is about 25 Euros and plenty of shops but again be aware they don’t speak a lot of English.

Positives - location to the beach is good. The beds are comfy It is quite clean / pool cleanliness could be better. There are more than enough sunloungers for everyone. Some friendly staff Pool service and room service are available. Good air con Could be better - Evening meal only opens at 8pm. Lots complaining about this. Evening entertainment (for adults and kids) is from 10.30PM If your day begins early morning this is not the place for you! Everything is late, the pools cannot be accessed till 10.30 am. All pools are mixed - would be better if the second pool was adults only and the 2 shallow pools were kid friendly. Food is not great - even for a standard hotel buffet, food that should be hot is cold. Not much choice. Candles to try and control the flies etc, which cannot be helped. Some staff aren’t as friendly as others and some do not understand English. Located quite a way from any centre, though there is a little shop not too far away that sells some groceries etc. very basic beach facilities, there is a toilet but no umbrella or lounger hire and no bars etc.

We have just returned from this hotel today, The hotel is very nice lovely rooms & pool areas,all staff are absolutely lovely & pleasant every single one & the hotel is clean. That’s the good bits. The negatives plenty of them: The food is always cold morning lunch & Dinner there isn’t a great deal of choice although you can fill up on the salads plenty of those. But pretty much every night it was neck end lamb chops which you couldn’t actually cut through, that sort of lamb is supposed to be slow cooked in a casserole, there was Also dried up pork some nights & chicken also fish which was always tasteless lacked seasoning, you definitely wouldn’t go hungry but definitely not the best. Also there are starling birds flying in the restaurant all the time & if you put your food down & maybe go get something else they would attempt to eat from your plate it’s a definite put off & actually made me feel sick,Also do not eat anything from the pool snack bar they have pizza & cakes & other things all set up but they are not covered up at all & the birds actually eat & peck at the food putting their feet on it & the staff don’t do anything I actually took a video. Also the flies & mosquitos are in the bar all the time again you can’t take your eyes off your drink or the glass is full of them also got a video. The pool areas don’t open till 10am every morning which is a shame you are waiting around to relax, plenty of sun beds & beautiful pool areas. Absolutely no entertainment day or night. They have a al a carte restaurant but is only open a few days & closes at 4pm so not a lot of use if you want to go in the evening. Also there is only one bar in the evening & it’s based in the reception area of the hotel. I have been to a lot of Barceló hotels over the years but won’t be going to any again. We paid a lot of money for this holiday & we work hard, so very disappointed on this occasion. But once again I must emphasise that from reception to cleaning staff Barcelo group should be grateful to have such wonderful lovely staff.

Great hotel, very well maintained gardens and pools. I did not like the entertainment, quite poor, both for kids and adults.

This holiday was booked over a year prior to going and we upgraded to superior room with a sea view. Positives. Room reflected the pictures on Jet2. The beds very comfy and there was plenty of hot water. The location is stunning and unspoilt. Negatives. We went all-inclusive and were never informed what this did or didn't cover. As all-inclusive customers we felt invisible at the bar and/or getting a drink in the main restaurant with a meal regardless if it was water or an alcoholic drink. We felt because we had already paid no effort was made. Hospitality was very poor and you had to cue for drinks took ages. There were a handful of staff who were pleasant but most were unhelpful and appeared to go out their way to make things difficult. Food - lots of variety but food was always cold. At breakfast I asked for an omelette and the female member cooking front of house did not understand what I asked for so took something already made - next minute I saw other guests asking for the same and getting omelette. Reception staff - I enquired if there were any buses we could catch near the hotel.was told NO and that we would need a car to access other parts of Almeria. Complete untruth!! Another guest advised that there was a bus service that took you in to Almeria Centre number 30 and number 33. Snack bar - all-inclusive food was uncovered, burnt, cold, and sandwiches left in the sun. Entertainment- this was none existent for adults during mid week. However the hotel was very popular with Spanish guests who seemed to book nights at the weekend and during these times lots of evening entertainment. We work hard and look forward to several week holidays throughout the year. This is the worst experience ever in Spain and has really made us think about booking large named hotel groups. I cancelled our holiday for October which was a similar set up. In the future will be looking at smaller hotels and possible not in Spain.

Fantastic stayed During the Copa del Mar 2024 at Hotel Barcelo, we really liked it, it is a good hotel with very good and quality staff, we came in two groups, we all liked it.

We have been here before and like it very much. The food quality, cleanliness and location are all first class. This was quite early in the season so not everything was open/available but that didn't detract from what is a very good hotel.
