The Niantic Inn was very clean, bed and pillows were comfortable. It's a nice location five minutes from the Boardwalk and Hole in the Wall beach. We had a kitchenette in the room with two small refrigerators and two burners, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. Dishes and glassware were beautiful. One sauce pan and a mix of other pans were provided. The set up was more to reheat something rather than actually preparing a meal. You would need to bring all supplies with you to prepare a meal such as salt, pepper, oil etc. Water pressure was good however the grab bar in the tub was broken. You could also see some water damage on the ceiling. There was a sofa/futon in the room that was extremely uncomfortable to sit on. The only way to watch TV was sitting on the bed. A plus was the number of channels available. Lighting in the room also needs improvement. All in all a pleasant Valentine's stay.

When we checked in the new owner was in the office. She is very personable and helpful. We had a very nice chat with her before heading to our room. Reading some of the previous reviews, I did not notice any of the issues listed. The rooms were large with a nice sitting area and kitchenette. The location is really good. We will definitely stay there again if we get back in the area.

To make a long story short - this hotel is no longer worth the cost. I’ll outline my grievances for those who want the details : The hotel is under new ownership. Originally my original pricing was going to be honored since I booked the stay 7 months in advance. Three months later, I was alerted that the rates were no longer being honored and the price would increase over $200 for my four night stay. As I had such a pleasant experience last summer, and I was promised renovations, I agreed to the increased cost and change of booking terms. Upon arrival, the AC unit was not functional in the room. And although it was renovated a bit, the 78* room was nearly unbearable. When I contacted hotel staff, I was told — it’s feeling cooler let’s give it some time. I was unhappy but after traveling with two small children I was ready to call it a night. Day two we moved into another room. This room was less renovated than the first, however the AC worked as designed. Morning of day three- I was abruptly scared to death at 750am as someone outside of my room used a card swipe to access my room. I shouted and this person removed their hand from the top lock (as their hand was INSIDE of my door at the point). I immediately called the hotel front desk and waited uncomfortably for someone to review the camera footage of who / what / why someone was able to open the door to my room. 28 minutes later I received a call back stating that ‘housekeeping’ had accidentally tried to access my room and did not know anyone was in there. Ok. Evening of day three- at 10pm there was no hot water to shower. I, as well as every other guest in the hotel, gave the benefit of the doubt and assumed high utilization was the cause given the street festival had just closed down for the night. After attempting to get hot water for over an hour, my children ( covered in face paint and sand from the day) went to bed without a hot shower. Day four - check out day - there is still no hot water. When I called for remediation I was told ‘no one else complained but I’ll see what I can do’. Nearly two hours later, after I’ve now given up again on showers, I receive a call back advising that there is a widespread issue but it won’t be fixed by checkout time at 11am. I, of course, now complain and was immediately met with resistance. After expressing my deep concerns and disappoin**ent, I was offered a $75 gift card off my next stay at the hotel. Now, this offer was unacceptable to me given A) I missed out on the ‘renovations’ due to switching rooms, B) I was abruptly awoken and scared for the safety of my family due to miscommunication, C) myself and my children were unable to shower before check out due to a hotel equipment failure. The original staff of the hotel are just as amazing as always. However, the new ownership doesn’t seem to have much concern for quality. As I have not received an appropriate credit to my stay, I am posting this here. Next year, I’ll be finding a diff

I made my reservation at the Niantic Inn in November, 2022, for a single night's stay in July, 2023, and I received a confirmation receipt and number for the room, priced $205. When I arrived to check-in I was told that the Inn was under new management and that the price of my room had increased by $60, around a 30% increase on the original price. I had never been contacted by the new management and was not given an option to not sign the new receipt prior entering my room. The receptionist assured me that they would send the owner a copy of my original confirmation and that it would likely be honored. On check-out the next day the issue had not been resolved and the manager was not answering messages. When talking to the receptionist (a different person), I was told it seemed unlikely the issue would be resolved, and that the manager had written down a note in the system saying they had contacted me. When asked about details surrounding the contact method and date, I was told the note read "mm;)". I had never been contacted by the management to discuss the changing circumstances, otherwise I would have found a room for a lower rate somewhere else, and this lack of clear confirmation from the manager compounded the overall lack of attention afforded the situation. I was told the manager would get in touch with me that day to resolve the issue, but a week later I have had no contact with the manager- they were given my number but I was not given theirs- yet a charge has been withdrawn from my account for the new price. I would not recommend the inn solely based on their poor management and customer service. It seemed from the attitudes of the receptionists that I was not the first person to be caught off-guard, and that no guidelines had been established to rectify the situation. However, they are not at fault and should not be blamed for the error; it lies solely with the new management. The room was fine but in my opinion not worth the hefty sum of $265 for a single night's stay.

We booked a room at the Niantic Inn in mid-April to attend a family wake and funeral service held over two consecutive days.. We wanted a comfortable place to stay given the circumstances of our trip. The Inn can be summed up in two words ... "terrible disappoin**ent ". The facility itself is worn and in serious need of updating. On entering the building I first noticed that there were no key card locks for nightime security on any exterior doors. Note that the office is not in the same building as the Inn itself. The second immediate sense was the smell from the hallway carpets, a sour, mildew smell as if they were previously wet, and they were obviously quite old. Although our room was reasonably clean, it still reflected a dated and worn interior. The bath was tiny and it was necessary to squeeze around the narrow door just to enter and exit. Good thing we are thin people. Linens and bed coverings were worn. There was no on-site facility for a snack, drink or continental breakfast, although there was a coffee maker int he room. We had a small kitchen area with very old appliances. The only plus was the location within walking distance to some restaurants and the beach, if it were in season. For the price of $182 with CT taxes we epected much more. We strongly do not recommend the Niantic Inn should you find yourself in this area.

The place was great. Room was large, spotless can not go wrong. The owner was friendly and her son provided us with some great places to eat. They know how to welcome you. New owners and have been busy updating the rooms. Beds were comfortable. Location great. Plenty local restaurants to pick from.

While the room was spacious and the beds comfortable, there were a lot of issues. First - safety - the dead-bolt on the door was broken. The toilet stool was not attached to the floor. There are only three outlets at floor level, and only 1 open socket in those. There was mold on the drywall and rust on the fixtures in the WC. The walls and floors are thin. Walking across the floor, the whole room shakes, and you can year everything in the hallway. The in-room phone was broken, with a rattle in the handpiece, and no dial tone. There was a 3-way adapter in the outlet between the beds with two lamps and a clock plugged into it - pretty sure an 'extension cord' is off limits as permanent wiring in a hotel.

I stayed here one night passing through from a trip in MA. What I loved about it is that it was very clean, super quiet and had lots of space in the room. I was on the top (3rd) floor and be aware, there are no elevators. (No problem for me.) The only thing I didn't care for (which is why I docked it one star) is that there was a very heavy "perfumey" smell in the hallways. I'm super sensitive to scents and it was a big turn-off for me. Fortunately, it wasn't that prevalent in my room. Parking lot is off to the left side of the building, so if you're one of those people who need to see your car at night, ask for the left side. I called them directly and made my reservation over the phone with Stacy and she was very nice. The aren't staffed 24/7, so I had to call when I arrived as no one was in the office and I didn't realize they put my check-in materials in the drop box. Not a problem. I was taken care of after I called the number on the door and, again, very nice staff! Walking distance to lots of places to eat and shops and very convenient to find. It's actually located behind the building on Main Street, so it's not immediately within view. I definitely recommend this to travelers, especially in the off season! Great Italian deli a few doors down, Guiliano's, for breakfast, lunch, dinner and pastries!
