Africa Safari Lake Natron

Africa Safari Lake Natron is a hidden treasure in the north of Tanzania, close to the Kenyan border. Cozy tents overlooking lake Natron with it’s hundreds of flamingos! Wake up by the sound of birds in the morning. A fantastic swimmingpool! The staff is amazing and made our stay really extraordinary! A fantastic place!

Safari Africa Lake Natron Safari Lodge is open all year round, offering a range of accommodations suited to different preferences and group sizes. There are 5 Safari Tents (no toilet and shower, but still very comfortable), including 4 twin tents and 1 double tent. The lodge also offers 9 Glamping Tents, 5 of which are family rooms with connecting options for up to 6 people, 2 quadruple rooms, and 2 with double beds. For those seeking more comfort, there are 10 Comfortable Bungalows, ideal for families. Each bungalow has 2 rooms: one with a double and single bed, and the other can accommodate an extra bed (available for 2 to 4 guests). The main building, housing the restaurant, bar, and reception, provides Wi-Fi, with plans to extend this service to the pool area early next year. Guests can also visit the boutique gift shop at reception. The restaurant offers a stunning view of the large swimming pool (which children will love) and Lake Natron. Water, alcohol, and sodas are available for an additional charge. For activities, guests can enjoy a scenic 1.5-hour walk to the lake to observe flamingos or opt for a round-trip car ride to the lake. The drive to the Ngare Sero Lodge waterfalls takes about 30 minutes by car, followed by a 30-minute walk. During the dry season, the waterfall walk is easy, but it can be tough during the rainy season. It’s recommended to wear tennis shoes that can get wet, as the stones along the river are slippery. The waterfall's landscape is truly stunning, making the journey well worth it. Public toilets are available for the first category of rooms, and honeymooners receive a special song and a complimentary bottle of wine. The lodge also offers flexibility for upgrades (subject to availability, with additional fees).

Great place to stay at Lake Natron but could be improved to be excellent. The views of the lake and the grounds were all incredible. Lovely natural type pool to cool off as the area is very. Room (stone building) was spacious but simple. The staff were lovely and always happy to help. Unfortunately our shower literally dribbled out which made showing impossible. Also the wifi is atrocious and only works in the main area, but even then it hardly works unless you are 1 m from the office. Apparently they just use a staff members phone as a hotspot… we weren’t there to be on our phones but even just to message family would have been nice! The most questionable point was charging for water with meals. It seems a bit ridiculous to charge for a basic thing like that when you are paying for a room and meals in your fee. This was the only place we stayed in our 3 week trip that charged for plain water… Finally, for other reviews complaining about bugs… that’s nature, you are literally in the middle of Africa and it’s all part of the experience! The bugs don’t hurt you, just tiny little flies attracted to the light.

This was a great place for a cultural experience with the Masai and a visit to Lake Natron to see the flamingos. We met a nice young man that took us to the falls and showed us the hominid prints. All of it was fascinating. It's a beautiful location, however the infrastructure here was difficult. The electricity went out and the bugs were numerous. But we weren't worse for the wear and the view and cultural experiences were a highlight.

This is the best place that I have stayed at in Africa. What a surprise. The accommodation (two separate rooms in each house) is beautiful and comfortable. The views to Ol Doinyo Lengai and Lake Natron is spectacular. When coming home to your room from dinner you can expect a group of zebras or a giraffe by your doorsteps! Staff is friendly and the restaurant serves good meals. Highly recommended. Would love to go back.
