The tents are very comfortable and the food is very good. With a water hole in front of the hotel there is a great opportunity to take some wonderful photos of elephants who come in the morning and late afternoon. For a good experience is to go for the day out to the south and the water. Saw wild dogs , a leopard on a hunt and a stunning pride of lions sleeping in the shade (it was very hot ) . There is a great hide to watch the elephants, lions, hyenas as they come to the water hole, where we enjoyed our Sundowner drinks. Had a lovely lunch at Sable Alley while we’re out. The stay at Sky tents ended up being different as it rained and we had to stay in a rather small tent on one of the levels of the platform !! Food was very different , but a very interesting experience .

The staff’s welcome was world class. The warmth and homeliness of the camp was astounding. The food was very delicious and so were the home made desserts . We had elephants , giraffes , hyenas, different antelope that visited the water hole and elephants even joined us for dinner the last night. Lastly , Shaba the guide did an excellent job of showing us lions up close, and we even went to the hideouts which was phenomenal! There’s a live feed that shows all this ❤️ The managers were so welcoming we were never alone, talk about great hosting ! Definitely memories I’ll forever cherish ❤️ I definitely recommend !

The camp itself is lovely. The tents are beautiful, the water is salty for the showers, but they give you fresh water to drink. Our guides KK and Obert were great, and we saw an amazing leopard sighting as well as lions on 2 separate days. The elephant hide is a magical place, as an ellie lover I was in total heaven. Also the ellies come to the pan in front of the camp to drink, so I got my fill of these beautiful creatures. The only down side is that it is over an hours drive on a bumpy sandy road to get to the good wild life viewing areas, but if you don't mind that it is certainly well worth the drive.

Loved this place! Yes, it’s rustic, but you can’t beat sitting watching the elephants come and go while eating your evening meal. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The food is excellent and the entertainment great fun. The guides were knowledgeable and full of information. It is a bit of a drive to the main okavango delta area but that wasn’t a problem, we still saw loads - cheetah, lions on a kill, elephant galore, giraffe, zebra, several different kinds of antelope, hyena, etc.etc. The birds were wonderful too. I would definitely recommend hyena pan

Yes, it is more rustic but still very comfortable place to stay. Beds are very comfy, great storage space and a good fan for those hot afternoons. The difference with the more expensive camps is a poorer shower head and a toilet that has no sound proofing whatsoever😊. It was smart to start the trip at Hyena Pan as the next 2 lodges were more luxurious - best to start with more rustic. Location of Hyena Pan is great especially due to proximity to elephants. There is a watering hole right in front of the camp. Hyena Pan is a further drive to see the animals so you have to go out about 30 minutes, but not a problem. They also have a “hide” which was fantastic for seeing elephants, zebras etc. up close. Let your guide know as soon as you get there that you want to go into the hide. He has to book it as it only holds 6 people. The landscape at Hyena Pan can be described, in places, as post-apocalyptic, due to all the downed trees caused by the elephants. Great to see this area and then go to Chobe area for the next camp – quite a difference. (Chobe gets more rain so it is a different habitat) Laundry: They do it daily but no “smalls”. The only thing is that this place was not a great one to have laundry done. Clothes come back “rough”. Is this due to the salt content in the water? You notice it when you wash your hair, as well. Our guide gave us brief “lectures” every day when we went out, which was very helpful. Guides did this at all camps – very knowledgeable. Dining: Of the 3 camps best food was at Hyena Pan! Dining is not communal, which we thought was good until we went to second camp and realized that we loved the communal dining. One night we were the only 2 at the camp and because that night is always BBQ night they still did the full spread along with singing.
