We booked to have Christmas lunch at The Tempus, following our wonderful experience last year. In addition I had also purchased £450 in vouchers as gifts. Unfortunately, the experience this year was nothing like the warm, intimate and festive ambience of the previous year. Our table was booked for 1.00pm and then the crowds started to arrive. It was nothing short of mayhem and utter chaos. We asked staff to slow down as everything was rushed and were then told we had to vacate the table by 2.15pm. At that point it became obvious that they were trying to get as many tables through as quickly as possible. The food was mediocre, as was the service and we were asked to leave the table before the coffee and mince pies were served. However, when we questioned this we were then told they had a new chef and things had been changed and there were no mince pies or coffee. I regret having purchased the vouchers given the awful experience and felt our Christmas day was ruined, somethingthat we had really been looking forwardto. I felt nothing more than a number that needed to be processed in order to make as much money as possible. Needless to say I will not be booking next year and would not recommend this experience to anyone. I might also add feedback was left at reception and no-one has bothered to acknowledge this.

Food was excellent and service at meal very good. Slight criticism was souffle starter could have been hotter. Unfortunately struggled to get pre meal drinks as only one member of staff on with queue of people. It would appear the one member was preparing drinks for tables. Not sure if we picked busy night, fortunately it was dry but we struggled to get parked and ended up in overflow car park with muddy trek to restaurant. All in all didn’t detract from the excellent food.

Northumberland has been crying out for somewhere like this for a while. A funky and quirky renovation/new build attractive to those looking for modern creature comforts in a rural setting. We arrived at night to a beautifully lit set of buildings spread across sprawling grounds. The set up is pretty slick with staff attentive and welcoming. We did worry it would only be for weddings and that on a cool late November evening we would be the only ones there. It was, however, buzzing with people of all ages. Young couples, family groups all interspersed around the many seating and dining areas (including outside Tipi with live music, pizza van and open fire pits!). Our room (Pole Barn 7) was in the eves of a converted barn accessed from external stairs. We were not shown to our room, something I would have expected but wasnt fussed about. We had to find it from the car park in the dark. The room was, however, brilliant. Lovely and cosy (warm) and very private. Could do with a full length mirror (compaint from my wife). We could have stayed there all night but ventured to the Tipi (full, no seats....so we went to the bar). We dined in the main restaurant and couldnt fault the food (medium sized menu of well prepared mainly local dishes, nothing too flash but very tasty). My only compaint might be that the service was a little too quick and we had finished within an hour. We had a lovely peaceful night followed by an excellent breakfast the next day. Our only minor complaint was that (again) the food came too quickly (halfway through cereal when the hot food arrived) and that the only coffee option was filter (no lattes etc as it would mess with the service times...so we were told). All in all a magnificent one night stay. Would love return. Would have been 5/5 had it not been for a couple of minor service issues.

As regular travellers to Northumberland, we came across this hotel and decided to give it a go. The room we were first shown to was extremely small and bed was under an eave. Anyone getting up in the night would surely crack their head! So we asked to see other rooms and ended up paying to upgrade to another room which was lovely (Zara) staff were extremely friendly and obliging and took time to show us various rooms. The hotel is beautifully decorated, all individual rooms. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant which was very pretty. All freshly cooked to order. Only 'criticism ' is that they allowed dogs in the restaurant. Whilst we are not adverse to dogs at all, we don't wish to eat with them in a restaurant no matter how well behaved they are. Bed very comfortable. Staff super friendly and accommodating, special nod to Amy on reception.

As a family we went to the Alpine Tipi, in the grounds of the Tempus hotel. The setting is stunning and walking in I had great expectations. The Tipi was full , not a huge number of tables inside the tent but lots available outside. We were lucky for the end of November it wasn’t freezing, as none of the outside tables were near any fires and there wasn’t a lot of rugs available. There was a huge queue at the bar with just 2 bar attendants and one was very busy running constantly from the bar to the outside van with the food orders. The staff were very pleasant but very overwhelmed. We ordered food and we were informed there was a wait of 30 minutes which turned into an hour. When the food eventually arrived it wasn’t very hot and my katsu turkey and fries arrived with no katsu sauce. I went back to the van and asked for the sauce, it was poured out of a large Tupperware container straight onto the fries and turkey. The sauce was cold , it looked like green dishwater and had no flavour. When we were paying hotel prices for the drinks and food I was expecting something better. Overall a disappointment.

Fantastic service and wonderful food. We went for a birthday celebration meal as a family, the staff were very accommodating and even sang happy birthday. All of our food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Would highly recommend for any special occasion!

Stayed here for my wife’s birthday weekend. The hotel was perfectly situated for us to explore the area. In arrival check in was fast and efficient friendly staff the hotel is decorated beautifully. Decided to book for evening dinner to save us going out far, so glad we did the food was amazing. Next day we got up early and went to a local parkrun however breakfast finishes at 10am and we thought we’d miss it. We got back with 10mins to spare and the breakfast staff were lovely attentive and friendly, we were able to order and eat without feeling rushed and yet again the food on offer was really good. If you’re staying here I highly recommend you eat here it is bloody good stuff!. Our experience was very positive we found all the staff in the restaurant were really attentive and we lacked for nothing.
