A private family run hotel and you could understand why it is so good. The staff were interested and very helpful, attentive at all times and creating a really friendly vibe. First time at the hotel and will recommend it !

Beautiful boutique hotel in a fabulous building. Staff were exceptionally polite, helpful & well trained. Food was excellent evening meal and breakfast. We used the Spa facilities which were as good as any we’ve been to. Will come back when working this way in the next few weeks.

When I read all the 5 star reviews I wondered how anywhere could be THAT good...but it was! The house is beautiful, as are the extensive grounds. The spa is excellent and we made good use of it. Dinner was wonderful, as was breakfast. But the standout really is the service, every person was friendly, helpful and really lovely. Mike was fabulous. He seemed to be everywhere at all times of the day and evening and was so helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for making my husbands retirement gift so special, including your personalised card

This wasn't a planned trip but decided to extend our holiday with a stay at the Ilsington on our way home from a week in Cornwall. We have stayed at the hotel on several occasions and it was a great end to our holiday. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed drinks on the terrace in the glorious sunshine. The food in the restaurant was amazing as were the staff.

This is my favourite hotel. I love going to Dartmoor anyway, but it's even more of a pleasure when I get to spend time at the Ilsington. If the weather's bad, I enjoy spending time in the spa or the gym, or sitting and reading in the lounge. And the staff are so good. Friendly but also very professional and they seem to enjoy working here, which I think says a lot about the hotel.

Peaceful hotel in quiet surroundings on the edge of Dartmoor, with friendly staff and a lovely spa. THe room was quiet and comfortable, and the breakfast delicious.

Visited several times. Always felt very welcomed and well looked after. Very relaxed and refreshed after only an couple of nights stay.
