We are still here and wish I wasn’t. It’s 330am and It is ABSOLUTE HELL! Arrived early to use facilities and very accommodating, although no offer of towels! However after that, it was just horrible. Checked in at 3, no mention of restaurant, just pointed me to room, which was nice and clean and tidy with Hypnos bed. Although it must be the only hotel, since the early nineties that does not provide you with water in the room, it’s quite unbelievable for £160. This for me shows the standard we are at! Went downstairs to play pool and have a drink. It was like being in a library! It felt like we were intruding when asking to play on the pool table or for a drink. The lounge was deadly silent, no music playing, and reception working the bar so asking for anything bar related was met with annoyance! We got the dregs of ice in our drinks. Went to reception as ball got stuck in pool table and was asked to wait, which is fine, and then was asked if the question I had could be answered with a yes or no!!!! To say I was taken aback was an understatement! It felt like we were a hindrance, not a paying guest! Anyway, ask about restaurant and was told there was no availability as it was tinsel and turkey coach parties -ITS 9th NOVEMBER!! Why on earth was I not told this on booking a family room with 2 children?? We obviously would have preferred a younger crowd! Went in to Newquay to eat which was nice. Came back to the bar/lounge with strictly come dancing playing on a TV in the corner!! No music just the sound of the TV. No atmosphere nothing. It was horrendous. And to top it off the TV was the other side of the pool table, so couldn’t even play pool!!! Spoke to lady in reception and she gave me a game of chess and cards, which was kind but pointless! We then had to endure the worst singer I have ever heard sing Christmas carols! Couldn’t bear it any longer, so ended up back in our room at 8pm with my 2 children who were boarded out of there minds! Now at 330pm me and my 11 year old son have been awake since 2pm, with a bunch of drunk teenagers slamming doors, shouting, knocking doors! Popped my head out and ask them to please stop and was told to eff off! NICE! Called the night porter, which I couldn’t do from the room phone so had to find hotel number and call hotel. The night porter came up and ask them to be quiet - after telling me to eff off in ear shot of my kids, they were told to “keep the noise down” - unbelievable! This is by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in, and we still have to endure breakfast, whoxh I am dreading!!!
