Unfortunately (and I believe it’s the manager - shaved head and glasses) is just so rude. Local to the area so we have the ‘locals’ card - which has always been an issue. In the past when we have shown it to the staff they’re like ‘we’ve put it on’ when we actively see they haven’t. We recently had to renew the locals card, and every time the new code given to us doesn’t work. My husband has tried three times, and given his details to the staff three times because they ‘promise it will get sorted’. This last time, the above mentioned manager just had no desire to assist. Quite stiff when we ordered drinks, short with his staff. When we gave him the locals card number he said ‘it’s expired’ and just brought over the PDQ without even trying to look into it. When I expressed that it really didn’t seem fair to not look into as it wasn’t our fault he said ‘well it’s not my fault either! - cutting me off as I was trying to explain that this would now be the third time we have followed the instruction to use the QR code and leave details with them. I just said ‘that’s a bit spicy and rude way to respond but okay’ and walked off to him shouting after me ‘no it’s not really!’ I’m sorry, I do love this place for so many reasons and memories but this manager is just so rude.

We stayed in a holiday home just down road from here there was 6 off us and ever time we went in it was no trouble and they were very friendly and the food was amazing and very large portions as well and there was and old Wurlitzer in corner with log fire it was just amazing

On a social holiday with a group had quite a longer journey than expected because of road closures so we arrived late on our first nights but we're quickly served our starters, mains and pudding then up to our rooms ours was very nice extremely hot water, hangers,big wardrobe and extra drawers plus comfy chair, tea and coffee, the waiting staff we're lovely &very friendly and would bring anything we required quickly we ordered our breakfast night before and dinner at breakfast no problem and they always got it right Yorkshire pudding was rather large and I really enjoyed it,food was good and filled me up,1 pudding Eton Mess was disappointing as good if you like cream but not enough meringue but that was it, entertainment was good and one of the stand ups had us all in years he was so funny, freinds told us the swimming pool was lovely so a great holiday for a great price Thank You 😃

We have recently returned from a week long stay here and were very impressed overall. We had a large well equipped bedroom with a sea view, which was clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a good shower with plenty of hot water and THE best smelling toiletries! House keeping came every day to clean and refresh the tea/coffee etc. The inclusive breakfast was excellent and cooked to order each day. The bar /restaurant is open to the general public and is often busy. This can lead to long wait times for food in the evening. The lunch/main menu is a little limited in scope but everything we tried was well cooked and presented. We found the staff to all be friendly and helpful. If you are staying for even just a few days then booking parking is advisable (as parking in Newquay is generally not easy) but do so at the time you book because spaces are limited. Overall we had a wonderful time at The Great Western and look forward to visiting again next summer.

I really enjoyed my stay at the OYO Newquay Beach Hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I was happy to have been upgraded from a single to a double bed accommodation due to high occupancy. The location is good as it's near the railway station (approx 5 mins) and 2 mins from the sea. I enjoyed the food at the elegant restaurant and found it a friendly service.

This is just an update. I have booked in here for July with National. The hotel is currently closed for a refit so it should be much improved when it reopens at the end of June. Will let you know on our return :)
