The Outlook Inn

Excellent stay at the Outlook Inn in Newport. Very nice, clean, quiet and cosy room, perfect bathroom with great shower, easy check-in and cherry on the cake the opportunity to park the car within walking distance still downtown Newport. The bed was extremely comfortable with perfect pillows. The breakfast was a real delight with a full variety to choose from served on the top floor by very kind and dedicated staff that prepared our meal on site. I would recommend 150% to every travellor to Newport to stay there. The only ”minus” was the fact that there were no plugs to recharge the cell phones on the night table next to the bed but only at the opposite site of the bed. Also the TV Channels were limited to many local TV , Sports channels and FOX TV. CNN, BBC world etc were missing, which is more of interest for international travellers like us from Belgium.
Newport Marriott Hotel & Spa
4.1/545 Reviews
We were disappointed in our stay. When we booked, we specifically selected ”water view” and the room was advertised as having 2 ”queen” beds. Although perhaps both were technically true, we certainly felt ripped off. The view we had was actually into the atrium where you could technically see the water through a window all the way across the atrium - a couple hundred feet away. The beds may have been bigger than full but were at least 6” less than a typical 60” wide queen. Since we paid extra for the view we didn't feel it was worth the price. The room out of that context was nice, but it had no complementary bottled water or coffee and at checkout we were told that was due to Covid somehow which made no sense to us. The walls were also pretty thin and it felt like someone was flushing the toiled right next to me while I was in bed. Overall it was clean and the staff was friendly but it was not what we expected for $700/night.
Marshall Slocum Inn
4.5/545 Reviews
Beautiful inn/Historic house walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. Very nice proprietors who accommodated my family of four and recommended great restaurants. Rooms are filled with antiques and it feels as if you are staying in a friend's guest suite. Reception area has complimentary snacks and tea/coffee and additional honor system food and drink for sale with a credit card reader.
The Cliffside Inn
4.7/5102 Reviews
We had a lovely stay at the Cliffside Inn in Newport and would eagerly return. The hotel is full of charm and architectural interest, was decorated beautifully, our room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast and service was excellent. Our only criticism was that the bed in our room was extremely tilted due to the slope of the floor. I would suggest putting a platform under the head/legs of the 4 poster bed to make the bed level. It was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on such a decline.
Ivy Lodge
4.7/534 Reviews
Had a lovely 1 night stay at the Ivy Lodge. The entranceway and staircase are amazing. Lovely woodwork and features. We stayed in the Pine room which was a nicely decorated cosy room. Lovely deep tub and good shower. Excellent facilities with things provided such as toiletries, coffee, tea, hot chocolate making facilities and cookies and brownies left out for guests. The welcome we received upon arrival and from the chef were warm and friendly. Breakfast was delicious - home made yoghurt with granola, scrambled eggs with ricotta cheese and a side of bacon plus cinnamon raisin toast to follow. The location was ideal for restaurants, a peak at some mansions and the cliff top walk - all well within walking distance.
The Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina

The location was great! We were right in the middle of everything and there was plenty of parking at the hotel! We were very disappointed when we came back to change for dinner, and our rooms were not cleaned! This happened to a lot of people on our floor! When we complained about this we were told that the maids come by at 8am and if you have “do not disturb “ on your door they bypass your room and don’t come back! We were out of the room by 9 am so they had plenty of time to come back! We were refunded the $75 amenity fee, but for the price of the rooms they need to clean them! Also, the bathroom was small and a little dirty!
