Five star all the way. Room location and atmosphere amazing. Cozy room with all the amenities. Staff very professional (especially Hannah), and room cleanliness was top drawer. Grounds were impeccable. The location of the Adirondack chairs looking out over the ocean gave the feel of a summer vacation. Only place I would stay in Newport. .

You must stay at the Chanler. The accommodations are first class, the staff are excellent, the views award winning and Cara is a special treat. We enjoyed the Chef's dinner and would highly recommend.

Our room at The Chanler at Cliff Walk was absolutely amazing. It was on the first floor with a porch overlooking the water. The room was well-appointed, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was also well-appointed. We had dinner one night at the restaurant at The Chanler; the food was delicious, and the staff was attentive and knowledgable. We booked the room through a travel agency that is "Virtuoso," and a number of amenities came with the Virtuoso designation. Highly recommend Virtuoso. My only "ding" is that I had trouble figuring out how to operate the shower! We had dinner reservations on the waterfront in Newport one night, and The Chanler provided transportation by way of a shuttle, both ways, which was much appreciated. Highly recommend!!!

Hotel was fantastic and the staff was arguably the best we have experienced at a hotel. The room was immaculate and the grounds were spectacular. We cannot recommend this hotel enough.

This was an exceptional hotel and an overall amazing experience. The suite, the Cliffwalk on the ocean steps outside the door, the beautiful gardens, and the welcoming staff and just a few reasons we will be back.

Beautiful Hotel and wonderful staff. If you have mobility issues, there are no elevators.Easy walk to downtown for great shopping and restaurants. Tennis Hall of Fame is one of many must sees!

This was for dinner/drinks, not a stay. I was taking a date for a late dinner on a Saturday. Frankly, I was apprehensive because my impression of the Chanler was expensive/overrated. But, my date wanted to go, and looking to impress on basically our fourth date, I decided to go along. Look, the Chanler bar and the ambience is top-notch, even after 9 pm when it is pitch black outdoors, so the view was unavailable. Bottom line: drinks are good but excessively expensive, and the food is good but the portions are woefully wanting. And this is consistently what I have heard from others and read in many reviews. Not sure how reducing drink prices a hair and increasing food portions to a reasonable level would impact profitability. It would ensure one would leave satiated and not feeling ripped off. Instead, I leave feeling, eh, and not desiring to return. And I’m a local, so if I liked it I would be there frequently. I get the impression it caters to the out of towners, so maybe the management doesn’t care. I’m not saying it was a bad experience, but having a $250 bill with 2 rounds of drinks and two unfulfilling small plates was not stellar. Easily fixable if you care to have repeat customers.

I am so thankful I researched and found The Chanler. It began with a very warm and helpful greeting upon calling to inquire and make reservations. When we arrived we were greeted by the Valet and 3 Concierge waiting for us with Champaign, reminded me of arriving at Downton Abbey! As we were escorted to our room, we were given the history of The Chanler. Our room (The Mediterranean) was pristine with beautiful views of the beach and ocean. We had made dinner reservations the evening we checked in so we had very little time to be ready for dinner. When we returned to our room housekeeping had organized ALL of my things and had mats out beside our bed with slippers, our phone charging cords rolled and wrapped! At The Chanler, you are consistently treated as if you are Royalty. We are already planning on when we will return.

We were supposed to be in Bermuda but Ernesto kept us away. We decided on a weekend in Newport and a stay at the Chanler. While it's a short distance from downtown and not in the thick of things, it's a perfect location. Away from the hustle and bustle, you can enjoy the gorgeous views from the terrace. The breakfast is lovely and we also enjoyed sitting at the bar in the evening before dinner with an expertly crafted cocktail. Brian and Courtney do an amazing job behind the bar. We loved our room but next time would choose one with a view as the Chanler's lovely location lends itself well to just staring at the sea from your room or the terrace. The front desk staff (Hannah, David, Michela) are all super helpful with reservations and for local dining and activities. It was a memorable stay!
