Booked two rooms at £130 each for a luxury break in early March. On checking in one room was unsuitable due to the bed which was very low with a mattress on a wooden platform, impossible for two elderly people to cope with. They couldn’t offer us a better alternative so my friend had to stay in another hotel. The other room seemed ok at first but later I found it very cold with only one radiator and four single-glazed windows so had to keep my coat on. In the morning the bathroom radiator was switched off with no knob to switch it back on and the over-bath shower could only produce lukewarm water so it was very cold. The washbowl was cracked. The floor covering on the staircase to this room was badly worn and dangerous. The restaurant was in a separate building from the main one so had to be accessed via a long outdoor path even for breakfast and the toilets for this building were also outdoors. My friend and I had nothing resembling a luxury break and were very disappointed indeed in every aspect of our experience with this hotel. Despite outlining my complaints no compensation was offered and I felt very surprised that I was expected to pay £130 for such poor accommodation. I will not be returning.

I booked 9 wks in advance for a two night stay and as requested paid a 50 % deposit, noting the cancellation details. Unfortunately, due to a change in plans I had to cancel the booking 4 1/2 weeks in advance of our stay. I requested and received a refund of the deposit but minus a hefty 5% charge for administrative costs. I’m not entirely sure that one short email confirming a booking, constitutes much in the way of administration costs but I have learned my lesson… be very sure to read the small print ! when booking

Booked in for evening meal but arrived only to be told that the lighting had failed. We were offered drinks and seated in one of the outside pods. We were given menus and were eventually informed that the kitchen was unable to provide food. The staff made contact with the pub next door and we moved to there for our meal just over an hour later. Maybe unavoidable but not a good introduction.

Last December I wrote a very glowing review of a great Sunday lunch we had here, and we have had lunch there 3 times since and things mostly remained fine. Sadly, the Sunday lunch we had recently was very different and most disappointing particularly as we took our son and his fiancée who were visiting from London. So, this is what has changed. The welcome: we arrived at 1.45pm at almost empty restaurant ( I relies lack of punters is out of their control) but no staff in sight. The member who did turn up seemed confused about were to seat us despite the fact most tables were empty. No music and no atmosphere. Service: The same staff member served us and could not remember who had ordered what (there were only 4 of us and only 2 different things were chosen). They dumped the wine bottle on the table without even taking off the screw top or offering a tasting. (There were only 2 other tables to be served and one couple came during our visit so there was time to take more care of us). No small talk at all. The food: Starter and desert were OK but the main Sunday roast very different from before. The beef was tasty but not such a good cut of beef. The roast potatoes were terrible they were tough and not at all crispy. (I realised why on our way out as I saw the remaining potatoes languishing under a heat lamp much the same a chain restaurant carvery!). Previously there was a generous supply of vegetable served separately in bowls ( 4 bowls between 2 of us) this time a small dollop of mash and a carrot was already on the plate and only 2 small bowls of veg were supplied to share between 4. Disappointing as it was the same amount of veg to share between 2, given to the couple near us. The price: The price has obviously gone up from before (by £3 for 2 courses) but sadly the cut of meat and quality and quantity of vegetables and service has gone down. On this occasion we had 3 courses each at £32pp x4, a bottle of medium price wine, 2 pints of beer, and a bottle of sparking water. Add to that the service and the bill was £200 for lunch. Would I recommend the Sunday lunch now? Probably not, considering how amazing it was in the past. Most of us are finding price rises challenging, we go out to eat very rarely these days so it is extra disappointing when places which were once really special, on this occasion at least, are no longer.

Restaurant great. Room left a bit to be desired. My sister & I stayed here last weekend. We checked into room 8: no towels, no bath mat, no English tea bags, and no Wifi at all. Also couldn’t empty sink… plug got stuck. Receptionist, when we found her didn’t apologise once. Manager in bar was helpful but couldn’t help with Wifi. The receptionist on the Sunday, (a much smarter lady) was very apologetic & to be fair took £30 off the bill. Dinner in restaurant was delicious, even though we waited an hour for main course. Waitress (an older lady) was very apologetic & lovely & we didn’t really mind. Young man serving breakfast was delightful!

Very disappointing meal. Poor service, waited 50 minutes for our food. The only fish starter- crab was not available. Decided not to wait for a dessert. The only positive was the restaurant atmosphere and garden.

Excellent Boutique Hotel. Room with Large double bed, Dressing Room and en-suite Bathroom. Very clean. Very comfortable. Wine Cellar a good addition. Summer Garden tented dining as if on Safari. Dinner and Breakfast excellent and all cooked to order.

Utterly divine food for our group of 14 last night, interesting cocktails, scrummy wines and beers and the most amazing roast leek starter. A special thank you to Amber who went out of her way to accommodate the children with their own order pad and pen! Put simply it's the best place to eat and drink in Pembrokeshire. Thank you all for being consistently brilliant. ❤️

Returned after a previous stay in 2018. Booked for a 4 night stay. Our room wasn't cleaned during our stay, towels not changed even though left in the bath, waste bins not emptied and milk left on the tea tray on our arrival still there Thurs. Had to go and get fresh towels Thurs from reception, handing over the then rancid milk and asked for the over flowing bin to be emptied, which it never was up to when we left Fri morning. Very disappointing, over priced for very poor service, will NOT be returning
