Super stylish hotel with a personal touch. It is family run so no corporate vibe or souless identikit here, more of a quirky take-us-as-we-are relaxed mood. I was upgraded to the largest room at the top with a humongous bathroom and one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in, with the softest of bedding, slanted ceilings and moody cocoony colours. The breakfast was gargantuan, no other word for it. Plenty of choice and plenty of it. I also recommend eating in the restaurant. Last not least, you are bang in the centre of this beautiful holiday hotspot on the West Wales coast, with everything on your doorstep. I am a return visitor, I guess that says it all!

We want to the restaurant and the food was absolutely crab linguini was absolutely terrible! The service was also terrible. The first thing that happened was that they didn’t know what beer they hade and also tried to offer beer to our 16 year old son. When he got his ginger bear it hade already been opened and half drunken! We ordered starters to our table that never arrived and when the linguini came in we were shocked! The pasta was so over cooked that it didn’t even stay in it’s original form, it was more like a pile of mashed potatoes and did not have any howl crab in! When we told the server about this we got in a new pasta that was even worse. It was waterd down and the pure was missing. After a long argument we got 50% of of the to pastas and nothing more. The salt and pepper holders were broken, i will never go back to this place

Considering the price of our room this hotel did not live up to my expectation. There was a rancid looking sheep's wool rug on the floor that needed to be put in the bin, along with the gone off milk left in a flask! Fresh milk was never provided for our three night stay and the fridge in the room had been removed and not replaced, strange. Room 5 seldom gets wifi - completely hopeless (no USB ports either). The roll top bath was grim, had yellow stains in it and just took up space in the bathroom. The plantation shutters let in a lot of light as they don't close tight enough and windows and sills were dirty with spiders and skirting boards needed a clean. On a positive the bed was very comfy and the welcome biscuit was great.

Some what surprised by the negative reviews of this place but can only comment on the evening meal we had there a few weeks ago as we did not stay at the hotel. We found the food, served in the main restaurant, interesting, somewhat different, nicely presented and very flavoursome. Not an extensive menu, not large portions and on the high side cost wise but service was good. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and came away very satisfied (and would also recommend "Les Oliviers Cotes du Rhone" if that's to your taste).

After my previous visit I came back last weekend of June with my family and what a disappointment it was. The food was absolutley terrible, the BBQ letuce starter was overly fried and oily bread served with some watery sauce that had no taste and topped with 3 leaves of burnt lettuce. The duck dish i previously had and ordered again on my visit last week was not even close to the one i ate on my first visit. The waiting staff got our order wrong 2 times and had to wait so long and then the food even came cold! One can not even complain about the food because then the waiting staff come and start arguing and talking back that the main should be served like that. Absolutley horrid experience!!! I was so ashamed i brought my family here. I do not know what has changed since my last visit but i will NOT be returning to this place. If i could give zero stars i would

Me and my partner stayed at Llys Meddyg for two nights, and had a wonderful time. Newport is a lovely village, and beautiful coastal hikes are within walking distance of the hotel. Llys Meddyg has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and Linda the manager was especially fun and helpful. One afternoon we decided to try the electric mountain biking guided half day, which is run from the hotel. Although I am an experienced biker, my partner is a beginner, and Jacob, our guide, was really patient with her, such that she had the best cycle ride she’d ever experienced, and in the most stunning scenery. The restaurant at the hotel is also superb, and we already planning a return trip for later in the year.

Booked two rooms at £130 each for a luxury break in early March. On checking in one room was unsuitable due to the bed which was very low with a mattress on a wooden platform, impossible for two elderly people to cope with. They couldn’t offer us a better alternative so my friend had to stay in another hotel. The other room seemed ok at first but later I found it very cold with only one radiator and four single-glazed windows so had to keep my coat on. In the morning the bathroom radiator was switched off with no knob to switch it back on and the over-bath shower could only produce lukewarm water so it was very cold. The washbowl was cracked. The floor covering on the staircase to this room was badly worn and dangerous. The restaurant was in a separate building from the main one so had to be accessed via a long outdoor path even for breakfast and the toilets for this building were also outdoors. My friend and I had nothing resembling a luxury break and were very disappointed indeed in every aspect of our experience with this hotel. Despite outlining my complaints no compensation was offered and I felt very surprised that I was expected to pay £130 for such poor accommodation. I will not be returning.

I booked 9 wks in advance for a two night stay and as requested paid a 50 % deposit, noting the cancellation details. Unfortunately, due to a change in plans I had to cancel the booking 4 1/2 weeks in advance of our stay. I requested and received a refund of the deposit but minus a hefty 5% charge for administrative costs. I’m not entirely sure that one short email confirming a booking, constitutes much in the way of administration costs but I have learned my lesson… be very sure to read the small print ! when booking

Booked in for evening meal but arrived only to be told that the lighting had failed. We were offered drinks and seated in one of the outside pods. We were given menus and were eventually informed that the kitchen was unable to provide food. The staff made contact with the pub next door and we moved to there for our meal just over an hour later. Maybe unavoidable but not a good introduction.
