A lovely place to stay, lovely clean rooms, lovely full breakfast, very helpful staff, cheap beer, car park is free and by a very scenic river about a 30 second walk, its a local pub and the customers are very friendly, very close to the town centre

They have obviously spent money on a refurb upstairs, but a shame that some minor details weren’t followed through. The bed was comfy, but none of the bed linen matched (not a huge issue, just strange), which gave the impression of a slap dash changeover. There wasn’t a mattress protector or undersheet, just a bedsheet, and the pattern of the mattress could even be seen through the sheet. The bathroom was nice, and had a good shower, but the toilet definitely hadn’t been cleaned since the last occupants, neither had the hoover been wizzed round. I asked when breakfast was served, and was asked when I’d like it. I asked for it at 7:30am but was told it would be closer to 8am, which was fine. However when I went downstairs just after 8, I was told it would be at least another 15 minutes before a cooked breakfast would be served. As I was in the area to work I had to leave or I would have been late, and grabbed a bite somewhere on the way. I could have been offered toast and coffee or something instead of a cooked breakfast, but this wasn’t offered. Another person staying there also left with no breakfast at the same time as I did. All in all, it was a great location, but for me this was the only positive thing about my stay. Many reviews on the place are positive ones, but I’m afraid my experience was anything but… maybe it was just a bit of a blip…

If you want any sleep, this is not the place for you. Remember when booking it is a pub and there is continuous noise from the bar area until at least 1.30am Friday and Saturday. Breakfast was delicious but disorganised...one member of staff trying to do everything ...staff were really nice. Its a case of you get what you pay for...we would not return

It was a great drinking pub, the bedroom was lovely, we were made to feel welcome, But the breakfast was absolutely disgusting, the bacon was so burnt I couldn’t Even cut it , the bread was left on the side to toast our self but it was very dry an mouldy the eggs were dry they were tinned mushrooms, an the sausage was badly burnt also , I didn’t even bother the second morning,But my husband went down it was the same mouldy bread an burnt offerings absolutely disgusting realy let’s them down

We stayed at the Red Lion in Cardigan for one night in July 2022. After shocking the punters in the bar wearing a motorcycle jacket and COVID mask, we were delighted to find ourselves in a large refurbished bedroom and bathroom. Very comfortable. I was worried about noise from the bar but we had a quiet night. We did have a misunderstanding about breakfast so we were unable to eat at the Red Lion. Please be sure you verify breakfast when you check in. Otherwise you will enjoy your lovely room and the chef was delightful.

This is a cosy little pub, the rooms are clean, comfy beds, tea coffee, great shower, lovely staff, breakfast was excellent, parking is tight the car park was full so I got permission from a local who owns the land by the pub to park there. It is a proper local so expect the lads to be having a drink. Check the location before visiting as it’s tricky to find.
