We were visiting Newcastle from abroad, due to a family event. It was a bit last minute and as such we were unsure of how many people would come and for how long, nevertheless, what ever the request, the room moves, the changing dining times or number of guests, the team at Avoca where just brilliant. The reception, the f&b, the housekeeping, the chefs and even the night security team member. Every last one of them were true ambassadors for Irish hospitality. We are all beyond grateful and will be back. We have stayed in a few other hotels in Newcastle - the Slieve Donard, Enniskeen and the burndale but we will come back to Avoca. Thank you from Freddy and the extended family who stayed for about 10days.

The Avoca Hotel boasts that "it's the perfect stay beside the sea" and that it's "an elegant and cosy hotel." Having just enjoyed a two night break, I couldn't agree more. After checking in, I unpacked and spent some time admiring the bedroom, I loved the decor. A little while later, I enjoyed a cold Guinness in the bar and completely felt at ease. I enjoyed everything about this boutique hotel, especially the superbly designed interiors. During my stay, l spent time appreciating the design skills and ideas that went into choosing the array of wonderful antiques, the interor design, and the warm and cosy lighting. Discover this superb boutique hotel for yourself. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay as much as I did. Special mention to Nicola for making me feel so welcome throughout my stay. I'm already looking forward to a return trip as soon as possible.

No words to say how amazing this experience was! The hotel is so beautiful and charming. Newly decorated with a great atmosphere. Our room had a view of the sea, we were greeted with prosecco and cupcakes with a warm welcome. The staff are so so kind and really made us feel special during our trip. The beach is so beautiful as well with forests and green scenery. The hotel has two pubs which are so fun, amazing crowd and music and their morning dry is DELICIOUS. 10/10 experience! ❤️❤️❤️

Called in for few drinks. Very cosy warm hotel. Quirky decor. Didn't have food here as bkd in to other restaurant. My husband had 2 pints of Guinness. Didn't taste the best and not very well poured. I had Orchard thieves (Cans )which annoys me as paying same price as Orchard thieves on draught.

From arriving at the hotel we found it easy to find on street parking directly outside, before being guided to a large complimentary carpark literally two minutes walk away. Shown to our room whilst being advised of the history of the hotel and the area. The room was lovely with all the personal touches of fresh bottled water and deluxe toiletries. The view from this particular room (201) was magnificent. Photo attached. Great nights sleep after dinner and a walk. Menu was limited, however we both found something enjoyable and would be able to choose different dishes if staying for a second night. Team were polite and helpful in every aspect of our stay. Lovely breakfast which was most certainly filling. The tea kept coming. A walk of the bar was amazing with true authentic feel. Overall brilliant , we will be back as a couple and with friends. Thank you Nicola and the team. Ps recommend a visit to nearby O’Hares.

We had a lovely overnight escape at the Avoca Hotel. Given we've always stayed at one of the larger hotels we were unsure what to expect but we loved the cosy, intimate feel to the Avoca Hotel. The hotel decor is quirky and unique, we had all we needed in our seaview room and the staff were excellent, very welcoming and gave a relaxed vibe, would definitely book again, thank you Avoca hotel

Letdown, got 3 kids meals, all goujons and they were all well overcooked, the kids meal was £7.50,definitely not worth that, even if the goujons were nice,they put them in wee quirky cones for the kids, definitely shouldnt. The beef special was nice, but the wife got the salt and chilli chicken wrap, nothing salt and chilli about it, was the same goujons as the kids meals in a wrap with wilted lettuce The Guinness was decent.

Excellent hotel. Great location. Nice rooms. That said, the staff and restaurant/pub make it a must visit if you are in Newcastle. Management is superior and ALL of the staff are wonderful. Special thanks to Nicola and Emma for making our visit so special. You are the best.

On a slow night very few people about. We waited 50 minutes on a fish and a burger. Burger bap couldn't be cut with a steak knife. I mean couldn't. Fish well below the average chippy. Service waiter done his best to cover for a poor cook . Obviously chef was on holidays
