Awesome accommodation, amazing and compassionate staff (especially Demi). The rooms are always clean. There can be better rooms for the same price/cheaper elsewhere but I always prioritise The Lucky when booking as they always look after us. Additional bonus, they have a lift for accessibility.

The hotel is very average, listed as four-star, but it is far from the international four-star level. The room is very spacious and not too small, but the facilities are average, and the floors are all below the fifth floor, so any room type you book will not have a sea view. The hygiene of the room was very poor. It felt like the tea cups had not been washed, and the tea stains that could have been easily cleaned were clearly visible. There is a layer of dust on the tabletop in the room, and fine yellow hair can be seen on the walls of the bathroom.

Great stay at Rydges Newcastle. Awesome location on the harbour. Close to beaches and with ample dining options right on your doorstep. The only let down was the buffet breakfast. Not a great selection of food, and the staff were totally overwhelmed with the breakfast crowd. Food was very slow to come from the egg station and tables were left unclean.

The hotel reception is on the ground floor. If you don't tell it's the hotel front desk, guests will definitely not be able to see it. The room is small, but it has a sense of design. You have to order breakfast yourself. The part-time college students in the restaurant are very good at service. They are patient and willing to help. They feel much better than the regular employees of the restaurant.

First time at a Crystalbrook hotel. It was a pleasant experience. Rooms are really spacious with nice modern decor/retro design touches. Bed was ok, pretty firm. Room entry is a bit of a wasted space around closet area, probably could have been better utilised. Bathroom was well equipped, probably could have been bigger based on wasted entry area. The hotel has a rather sombre vibe so a bit vanilla in that respect. Restaurant not open Sunday eves so couldn't try. Bar on top level has pretty good views but a bit disjointed between nice bar and seating area in a seperate room. Didn't get a buzzy feeling there. Location was ok, bit out of central CBD but close enough to Darby St eateries so had my Sunday dinner there. Opposite Civic Park and close to waterfront. Loved the ”no plastic bottle” and refillable water stations for an eco friendly experience.

The hotel was above the bar. The room was spacious and the living room and bedroom were separate, which was nice. It was also convenient that there were cups, coffee utensils, and a microwave. However, the room smelled dusty overall, and it was disappointing that there were moths and cockroaches in the room.

I stayed in several hotels during my trip to Australia, and this one was pretty good. Our room was located so we could see the Ferris wheel opposite, which was especially beautiful at night. The bed is also very comfortable, the front desk is very welcoming, and the price/performance ratio is very good.
