This is my second time staying here, and it was just as pleasant as the first time. A comfortable room, everything works beautifully, plenty of outlets, and USB ports for recharging devices, and a super friendly staff. They were quite helpful in every regard, with a fast check in and check out. They were also spot on when I asked for a recommended restaurant for dinner. I went to Loretta’s, and it was great! The complimentary breakfast is also a great way to start my day. Will always be coming back to the Essex Street Inn when I visit Newburyport.

There is no dinner in the hotel. This seems to be a common problem in hotels like the United States. I had to buy a few boxes of American-made instant noodles from the canteen in the lobby. Although the taste is far worse than the Chinese instant noodles, it is not sweet and can be eaten.

The room is quite hygienic and the store environment is convenient. Breakfast is provided the next morning. The overall impression is pretty good. There is a place to park at the door and it is quite complete.

I am an Elite Marriott member and stay at 20-30 properties each year. This is a brand new built property and I had very high expectations for our overnight stay here. Upon arrival, our keys had not been activated on our APP so we had to check in with a front desk staff. The woman that checked us in was very difficult with attitude. Not a good start. Upon exiting the elevator, there was a plastic bin placed in the hall that stated “Place Used Towels Here”. With my extensive travel that I do, I have never seen such a towel bin in any other property. When taking a shower in the morning, I noticed many hairs in the shower stall. That disgusted me that the bathroom had not been cleaned properly. Clearly they have a housekeeping issue going on at this property and until they get staffed and managed properly, I would never choose to stay here again. During this vacation, we had four hotel changes with this one being our final stop. It was absolutely both couples least favorite of the entire trip. Disgrace to the Marriott name.

Talia was the absolute best! She gives all the ladies a strawberry with their drink. Makes you feel so special! She also gives you extra fry sauce to go. Good service is hard to come by so I genuinely recommend coming here.

Hubby and I just recently stayed for 3 nights in a nice suite with bedroom and extra living area space. Not sure what's with the negative reviews, unless they have stepped up their game as it is the summer season. Breakfast was great with the yummy warm cinnamon rolls back!! I didn't use it but the pancake machine was a great hit with others. Swimming pool; not huge but good for a dip and to relax. Only thing I didn't like was that housekeeping is only every 5 days. I know you can call if you want to have it done, but 5 days seems to be a little much. I would stay here again!!!

I reserved a two queen suite on the third floor, the room was large and very clean, looked like new carpet and furniture. Wife and I thought we could relax with a good nights sleep. No about 10pm a scrapping noise started stopped after an hour or so then around 5am started again continued till we checked out. Front desk said ”oh we heard about this before” don't know what it is. $172 down the drain. So much for satisfaction or refund.

This is a quint place, with a unique feel. Do not expect all shiney new. But it is clean, happy with a local feel, and the beds are amazing. Our room was small but nice. The only decorating complaint would be the patchy wall paper. But I know that the school had to house kids there during Covid, so I get it. The bar/restuarnt looks nice, though we were out to our friends at night and did not try it, maybe next time. Nice patio area. We liked the local but euorpean feel, and will be back!
