In order to take the children to the nearby school for an interview, stayed for one night, so there is not much demand for the hotel. The facilities in the room are general, the beds are put together, not very comfortable, the health is OK, the breakfast is too poor, the overall feeling is not acceptable for the holiday! The decoration at the front desk is ok, warm and elegant!

After driving from the Vendee and catching the latw ferry over choppy seas we stopped at this Travelodge. Veey good value for money. It cost £29. It was clean, the staff were friendly, the bed comfortable. There was a bqth and the usual teamaking facilities. We had been travelling around France with a few stays in this type of accommodation, but this Travelodge was better. Of course it is not a 5 star hotel. That is not its purpose, but we will stay again.

I’ve knocked one star off because, as some other guests have also mentioned, service in the bar and restaurant can be slow and it did feel like they were perhaps missing a front of house member or two. We didn’t eat other than breakfast as we didn’t fancy the menu but not a problem as there are loads of eateries in Hungerford. The room, in the annexe, was fantastic, far better than we were perhaps expecting as the price was very good. Breakfast was lovely and served speedily!! The staff we interacted with were very nice. Parking is free, and plenty of spaces. All in all a great stay and we will certainly be back.

Had a lovely 3 night stay at this lovely inn, would have had four but was fully booked! Was my belated birthday present, though dad said it was for mummy’s birthday! Very welcoming team with a lovely room decorated in a tasteful contemporary style and large en-suite. View over the village pond just added to the quintessential country location. I was even given my own special doggy beer and biscuit. Team couldn’t do enough to help and were very attentive to my every whim, including a sausage for breakfast. Breakfast lovely, albeit mum and dad didn’t go for the larger breakfast given the meals the night before were so large (and of equally high standard). Though at first glance the prices could be seen of the expensive side, I will certainly say it represented good value for money. I’m already pestering mum and dad to take us back!

Wasn't impressed to receive text whilst abroad to say if we checked in late our room could be let. We were flying back and couldn't guarantee getting there at 3 pm. Had to get family member to call to explain. There are 2 Travelodges, one each side of the motorway. We booked the westbound one. Both have the same postcode. Our satnav only recognised Eastbound side. Result was they couldn't find our reservation. Apparently this happens a lot. Staff redirected us so only a few minutes and a few miles delay. Our arrival delayed by difficulty at Heathrow,ie Terminal change and over an hour and a half hours delay before passengers could access luggage reclaim. Staff shortages. Arrived at nearly midnight. Only Costa open at services. However, staff at hotel helpful. Situation good and quiet despite proximity to M4. We were very pleasantly surprised. Room clean and plenty of space, bed comfortable, coffee-making facility welcome. Bathroom fine and water hot. Slept really
well and plenty of choice for breakfast with services placed only a few yards away but not causing any noise problem at the hotel. Enjoyable stay. Pity about postcode confusion
Maybe explanation to take westbound services turnoff given on website when booking would avoid confusion and save people being taken to the eastbound site. We were worried when satnav told us to pass westbound services but assumed hotel was approached by another turnoff shortly after. It would have made our arrival far less fraught to have been aware of the fact there were Travelodges BOTH sides of motorway. The hotel itself was good and gave us a comfortable night.

Very Good
GGuest UserWe enjoyed The Lodge, it is a very different location and feel. Based next door to the Premium racecourse at Newbury with the jockeys medical room and the various management offices including the stewards and Jockey club, and the empty stables. Opposite us was a couple of very impressive stands, and very upmarket hospitality suites. In spite of this we had a very quiet nights sleep. Our room was warm - there is no aircon. The room is just very user friendly and has a bathroom with shower, but the double bed is large and comfortable. Good breakfast and extremely helpful front desk staff.
CCuriosity49584728814Was traveling down from Scotland to Southampton, and needed somewhere to spend the night. In the past I have usually spent the night in the Warwick/Oxford area, but on this occasion I wanted to be a bit further south. Most places were coming back at £100 a night for a single hotel room, but was able to find the Crown & Horns at a not to bad rate. Conveniently located off the road to Southampton, I had no problem finding it. Lovely rustic country pub, staff were really friendly. Staff are really friendly, and was able to get a pint in the bar before retiring to bed. Room was nice and basic, but met all my needs. All in all met my needs for my trip.
GGuest UserStayed here Friday and Saturday night for Newbury races so very convenient being 2 miles from racecourse and right in town for the evenings. We also chose the hotel for breakfast and free parking- no complaints. Breakfast ran until 10am. The room was spacious and clean although outdated but it was good enough for our stay. We had a rubbish first night sleep as we were on the Oxford road side and the car sounds feel non stop, also closing of the pubs time is very noisy. We were then woken up very early by the light, the curtains don’t even cover the windows. They need double glazing and blinds! Pretty similar second night sleep so was looking forward to coming home to my own bed which is a shame. The floor was so creaky we were woken up numerous times by other people in the building especially from upstairs. The bathroom door had to be slammed to close so that would of been heard by neighbours. Our room was not serviced on the Saturday although we placed the sign on the door and cleaners were on the level as we left. We were out from the morning for over 7 hours. This was a shame as would of liked water and tea/milk replenished and clean mugs. Check out the red lion pub for some Mexican food, it’s unreal and unexpected! 5 min walk.

As good as any other Travelodge I’ve stayed in. Clean, quiet, no complaints there. Hard to find in the dark as it’s not well signposted though. Trucks had helpfully parked across all the main hotel car bays. Consequently the overflow car park was full and we had to park in the main services car park. Good enough for a stopover though.
CConnieWe have been to this hotel before, but this time we saw a sign saying that swimming will incur £5 pp charge. I was gutted that I was not advised, as the receptionist said this new policy took place 2 weeks ago. BUT, when we went to the pool, the clerk told us that if you booked from a different provider (trip.com etc) you have a complimentary pass to the pool. If only we knew the first day. But really happy overall.
