The Riverside Rooms

Lovely place to stay in central Newark, just near the castle (although currently closed) and a short walk from the Civil War Museum. Rooms very large and well equipped, all freshly decorated and clean, very quiet and (reasonably) easy to access free parking. Only minor reservation is that hosting is handled remotely, so you will need your phone to hand to gain entry and to contact the host if necessary (the venue was in different places labelled as a hotel or self-catering, but neither are quite right - a room only, self-service guest house is probably the most accurate). Plenty of places to eat nearby. A recommended option if visiting Newark or looking for somewhere within easy reach to either Nottingham or Lincoln.

Lovely property in great location! Love staying here when visiting the area. It's a great location and peaceful. The rooms are lovely and great views over the river. A stone's throw from the castle and short walk into town. We love walking along to The Navigation too for a little refreshment!

Lovely location Lovely location, excellent room. I had lost my email service but the manager was very helpful when I rang up. A little bit hard to find.

The Riverside Rooms are in a super location, right on the canal surrounded by historic buildings. A really fantastic view right outside. It's quiet, has free parking and near to a couple of pubs. The room itself is clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. It's not your sterile hotel room. We stayed on a really hot day and the room was lovely and cool. I had a great sleep. It's an old building and the ceiling in the bathroom is sloped, so if you are very tall you are going to have to take care in the shower, I'm going to say that this is part of the charm and I was absolutely fine with it. Despite being central it's so lovely and quiet there that we were able to leave the window open and hear the water trickling through the lock at night, which was a real treat. It's next door to a pub with a good range of meals and also a super CAMRA micro pub, so you don't have to go far to find yourself some refreshments. We were really pleased we chose to stay there, it's good value.
