Newark Garden Finger Lakes Hotel

Newark|0.17km from city centre
We were booked to play a local bluegrass festival. The festival promoter booked us 2 rooms for Saturday night. We booked two rooms for Friday night at the same hotel for convenience. 2 1/2 weeks before the festival, we found that we only needed one room on Friday night. I called and canceled one room for that night. When we arrived, the front desk clerk told us that we had already checked in for both this room and the rooms that the promoter booked. Apparently, someone gave our rooms to another band. The front desk clerk was apologetic and told us the manager would be there in the morning. There was another room available, so we checked into that one, using our credit card again. The room was not only dated, it had a broken coffee maker, the toilet seat was only connected on one side and it swung freely from side to side. The tub was cracked and rusty around the drain and there was mold on the fixtures. We had to set the A/C at 64 to get the room cooled down. My sister called the desk the next morning to see if she could ensure we would have the rooms the promoter had booked for that day. She was assured that we would have rooms. I went to the front desk to make sure that I was not being charged for the room I had previously booked as well as the one we actually checked into. When the manager finally showed up, I told him I would like to make sure that the charges on my credit card were correct due to the mix up. He was not only uncooperative, but was nasty, too. He barked that it was taken care of and if it wasn't, to ”take it up with Mike (the promoter). When my sister, who is a pretty blond, went down to ask about the second room, he fell all over himself being nice. I have stayed here before for previous festivals and have never had such a bad experience. Needless to say, I will never stay there again.
