This is a review for the museum: I looked around and it looked empty. Knocked on the door and was greeted by a gentleman who was not rude at all, but I was told that there are no self guided tours. There are only guided tours at 10 AM and 1:45 PM. I looked at my watch and saw it was 1:52 PM and said if I had just missed the last tour, he said the person didn’t show up. He then gave me a card to call back when I was gonna show up. I mentioned that this information wasn’t on their website. And he said, “no everything subject to change.” Im not sure why he couldn’t give me a guided tour. As a traveler on the bus, the buses haven’t been consistent because of all the construction it’ll be impossible to come back.

My wife and I stayed at the Degas House for four nights and loved every minute. My wife, being a dancer and dance teacher for many years, was excited to be in the midst of so many of Degas' ballerina paintings and sketches. Being given a tour by Degas' great, great, grandniece was the cherry on top. This was a wonderful stay among wonderful people.

This place is really cool. It’s where he stayed in New Orleans at a certain time and does have some of his art there. Now split into two different buildings, you do need a reservation for a tour and the tour guide is actually a real relative of Edgar Degas himself which was really cool. Very interesting.

This 2 room suite was not as advertised--bed was literally smashed in two places, room had not been cleaned properly. Bathroom and kitchen were filthy. Advertised as daily maid service which never happened. Full American breakfast was said to be included but only provided on weekend. High speed internet promised but could not power movie or zoom meeting. Front desk person there sporadically and no way to get help. When I arrived, I was told that I would "get my exercise" carrying suitcase up steep long staircase, which I was unable to do. I found a kitchen staff to help me. Because of poor accommodations, I shortened my stay but was still charged the full amount, which I am now disputing with credit card company. I have reached out to owner twice with no response.

Made a reservation by phone for a Saturday morning brunch and guided tour. Arrived at 9 to find the left house locked up, the courtyard set up for a wedding, and the right house filled with a wedding party. Attempts to contact the staff by phone were unsuccessful, our calls were unreturned.

Walked around a bit in the house. Very peaceful and well-preserved. Cute restaurant out back although I did not eat. There was some kind of funeral or wake happening there but no one seemed to mind I was there. The house was very pretty. Tom Birner (Washington, DC)

We spent two hours here. French President Macron was just here. The place is very classy. Full of culture and the time of Degas. He painted some of the most important paintings here. Our tour was guided by a descendent of Degas. She was gracious. Will book a room and breakfast here next time!

The kitchen staff were wonderful…breakfasts were delicious, especially the Bananas Foster French Toast. The sleeping rooms were unbelievably bad. The bridal suite had water dripping on the bed from the room above. One room never had hot tap water though a plumber visited the room. Another room had rotting floors and there was mold on the wall of the staircase. TVs in two rooms didn’t work, I didn’t care, But, it is football season. The owner of the property needs to address structural issues before adding any other features to the property. Luckily the wedding took place outside and Sharon, Denise and other kitchen staff got all of the food just right.

There are two things I will highlight - first, the property and second, the staff. If you appreciate the character of old homes and the history contained within, you will love this property. It comes with its quirkiness, no doubt, but we were overwhelmed with its charm. The Estelle room is grand - a very large room with a large porch looking out over Esplanade Ave with its gorgeous and very old oak trees. Regarding the staff, it doesn't get any better than this. They are wonderful caretakers and you feel right at home. It wasn't just prompt and accurate service, but a genuine care for their guests. Every interaction was pleasant and enjoyable. I will absolutely stay here again!
