My Mum and I stayed here for a night, we wanted something special and we had a lovely experience! This hotel may be old but I felt that was part of the charm, especially because you can pick up a paper at the desk which tells you all about the history of it (including how Mae West had a room there!). The man at reception was lovely, as were the bar staff, and we had a great sleep in a cozy, nicely themed room with a great bathtub. My Mum especially appreciated the Bible being left in the bedside table as well. That may have been done by a guest but it was nice that the staff left it there nonetheless in case somebody wanted to read it. There were a number of little touches like that, and we had a garden view which was lovely. Also the breakfast was included in our booking, and well worth it! I'd recommend this stay for anyone looking to have a nice night in the Scottish countryside!

Amazing hotel in outer part of Inverness.. hidden Gem💎 * Hotel located in Country side * Hotel built in 1897 itseems and renovated * Receptionist lady, Restaurant people were very polite and helpful (Much appreciated. Thank you so much if you are reading) * Free buffet breakfast is also very good with hot and cold items.. see photos * Rooms also very good. Neat and clean * Room contains basics necessitys like Kettle, tea, coffee,milk etc and bathroom items * Small park in front of the hotel looks beautiful * Many cark parking spaces available outside of the hotel, but we struggled coz we came very late

The Hotel is a typical grand style of years gone by, located in a beautiful part of the Cairngorms... Another great stay... really clean and tidy rooms, and the food was good too...The staff are all friendly, and can't do enough to help. Very happy to come back again.

On approaching this is a striking Victorian granite building. Across the road, there are some well kept gardens which belong to the hotel. Unfortunately, inside the building is rather tired. Whilst we found the bed very comfortable the room really does need an upgrade. The staff are very helpful and friendly and we had a lovely evening meal. Breakfast was satisfactory but the bus party had eaten most of it and we had to wait for it to be replenished, which it was. The hotel was surprisingly busy partially due to a bus party but service was prompt.

to all the naysayers on the reviews all i can say is if you want a hotel thats all bright and sparkly go to edinburgh to the witchery or the balmoral and pay 900 pounds plus per night a fresh lick of paint is not the be all and end all in life its not the hotel that makes the staff . its the staff that make the hotel this is my impression of the hotel stay had a stay in july room very clean and tidy bed was very comfy lovely wetroom and powerful hot shower the staff are lovely and cheery the food couldnt fault it .big portions and very good value for money

The Staff put a lot of effort in to paper over the cracks at this place. First impressions, it looks idyllic - a late 18th century stone lodge with bags of character. But then you notice the little things. The threadbare carpets, the dirty doors, the torn curtains, the paintings with food on them in the dining room, this place isn't tired... its exhausted. The food is ok... (with the exception of the cullen skink, by far the best Cullen Skink I had on this tour) - breakfast is a wide and varied option and a good standard. My bed was comfy and my room was adequate... but the window was held open by a chunk of wood and had rotten sills which is a theme through the entire hotel. Needs a major uplift to survive I think. But I hope it does.

Lovely quiet location. Hotel is full of character but needs updating as exterior wall have been left far too long. Cleanliness in good, comfy beds and food is excellent. Staff arr friendly and helpful.

This is a very attractive hotel with lovely gardens. As others have said a little tired in places, mainly corridors. This did not detract from the charm. We stayed in a four poster room unfortunately there was a strange smell, something spilt on the carpet. As it was only one night we put up with it but did tell reception on leaving so they could sort it. The food was absolutely lovely and staff friendly. Breakfast choice good. We would return no hesitation.
