Ah House City B&B Nelson

We recently enjoyed a wonderful 3-night stay in the Garden Apartment at Ah House Bed & Breakfast and couldn’t have been happier with our experience. The hospitality from John and Mark was second to none. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel incredibly welcome and were always available with helpful local recommendations and advice on places to visit and dine. The apartment was comfortable, spacious, and felt like a home away from home. Every little detail had been thoughtfully considered to ensure guests have everything they need for a relaxing stay. A delicious breakfast was provided daily, which was a fantastic way to start each morning. Location a 5 minute walk from the CBD . The quality of the accommodation, attention to detail, and genuine warmth of the hosts made our stay truly memorable. We would highly recommend Ah House Bed & Breakfast to anyone visiting the area and would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you, John and Mark, for a fantastic stay.

Ah House is a great place to stay. Our hosts Mark and John made us very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. Situated in the heart of Nelson a few minutes walk from the city centre and so quiet. Comfy bed with lovely linen and plenty of space in our garden apartment where we could relax. The apartment included a well equipped kitchenette. To sum up the b&b was impeccably clean and tidy - centrally located and great hospitality. Thanks Mark and John.

Having just completed a 6 week tour of both New Zealand’s islands, we can honestly say Ah House was our most enjoyable on the South Island. Our garden room was a totally unique, quirky and cozy experience. Hosts Mark and John excelled themselves in making us feel ‘at home’, giving tips about Nelson and the surrounding area. Bravo to Mark for ‘going that extra mile’ and managing to prepare a cooked breakfast during a power cut!

It certainly deserves all the accolades it has received. What a marvellous place to stay John and Mark made us feel at home from the moment we arrived, we couldn't have asked for more, we wouldn't hesitate to stay with you again Linda & Simon Knight

A wonderful stay (again!). Mark and John are the most wonderful people (and hosts) you will ever have the good luck of encountering. We stayed in the Ah House in 2023 and returned in 2026. If we are back in NZ, we'll go again! The location is excellent for walking into Nelson for dinners, museums, and galleries. BUT it is the Ah House itself- the hosts and the personality of the space that they have created that is the draw and the reward. The garden apartment is spacious and private, the mattress sleeps well, the environment is inviting. Relax and hang out on your patio or be energetic and go to Abel Tasman for the day. No matter what you choose, you will enjoy your time at the Ah House. Mark and John are easy to access and happy to provide information, but they also honor whatever privacy level you are most comfortable with. No fussy rules. Just comfort. They go above and beyond to help out (they gave us a lift to the airport- Thanks guys!). Stay at the Ah House. You will be glad you did.

This is a lovely bed and breakfast, and the two owners (Mark and John) are amazing hosts, that do everything to ensure you have a great experience. Highly recommended!

John and Mark set the standard very high for our Nelson (and surrounding area) adventures! Unbelievably kind, beautiful home and garden, delicious breakfast. I dont think we’ve ever felt this good after such a long flight. Can’t recommend enough!

What a wonderful oasis in Nelson! Our hosts were full of it! (I mean personality, hospitality, recommendations & kindness!!) 6-stars if I could give it! Our garden unit was beautiful w/ lots to admire or read, with a very comfortable bed. The gardens were great for exploring & full of whimsy! Oh! and walking distance to the heart of town too. Hope to come back! Highly recommend!
