Manowhenua Lodge

Fantastic place to spend the night before a hike in the National Park. Welcoming, clean, tidy, everything we needed was available. A quiet, comfortable sleep. Kitchen well set up for cooking and storing food in the large fridge/freezers.
Mountain Heights Lodge

after being informed our other accomdation was closing down, we were lucky to discover here & book a one night stay. the room was fabulous, at the front of building, with a balcoy looking out to the mountains. everything was clean, comfortable & cozy. A good nights sleep, we were not bothered by road noise. A basic breakfast was left for us in the upstairs kitchen, that was enough to start our day, plenty of tea/coffee available. There are 2 eating places a short drive away, but only one was open on our stay, which was understandably, crazy busy. Thank you.
The Park Hotel Ruapehu

There is very little light pollution in this area, the night sky is beautiful, and long exposure can draw out the Milky Way The room is too small and the suitcase is difficult to open There is a bit of a question mark about the service in the restaurant. The lamb knee was replaced three times and it was still icy next to the bone. It needs to be replaced the fourth time.
Plateau Lodge

Neat place to stay. The king pods have everything you could need and the bath outside - what a bonus after a four day tramp. Soaking in hot bubbles bliss. Great staff. Very accommodating staff, super friendly and happy to go the extra mile to make your stay easy peasy lemon squeezy!!
Howards Mountain Lodge
3.7/510 Reviews
Overall a good place to visit, clean and tidy. We had 4 adults and shared a room. Pretty comfortable. Lovely lounge rooms which would be cosy in winter. Few easily fixed issues. Kitchen is rather cluttered with stuff. One of the only three tables was covered in empty wine bottles and old floral arrangements. Ensure bathroom there was 4 of us but only really one usable hook. Also weird handle above sink that you hit your head on when brushing teeth. Lots of random pieces of firewood around and old floral and tree pieces. And kitchen was quite dark and cramped as visitors could only use one side But overall was perfectly fine for our 2 night stay.
Tongariro Crossing Lodge

Great accommodations - very clean and well-appointed room, easy to access laundry and amazing breakfast. If you’re doing the Crossing, definitely get lunch - the sandwich and other items were fantastic!! The shuttle picks you up and drops you off right in front of the lodge which was great after a tough hike.
