We gathered here for my cousin’s 60th and it’s a proper village pub with friendly staff, good food and a good selection of real ale. There’s a lovely outdoor space close to the water and the pub put on a fantastic barbecue, really exceptionally well cooked, tasty food. We hadn’t managed to book a room here and stayed at the Haycroft Manor up the road at Wansted (also highly recommend this). When I asked about getting a cab over there, the landlord said he’d take us himself…really kind and way beyond what he had to do! I’m not suggesting that would be a regular thing, but it tells you a lot about the sort of warm and friendly place it is!
