From the 1st meal to,the final night what a horrible experience. A hostess that could not cook or careless. A room that stank was cold sterile and with things running around in the attic. A beautiful village with a potentially lovely inn. Sadly no. A clueless owner that agreed our room stank but did not know off what and seemed not to care. A supper of fish n chips how hard can that be. Apparently too hard. Watery on frozen white fish with a green paste and tasteless tartar sauce. Breakfast it would seem poaching an egg was impossible. The rest swimming in grease and Luke warm. So,poor we resisted the inclusion the following morning Our room. Sterile cold scruffy but it smelt The smell got, worse and was never identified. I am sorry but shabby and cold with a young staff doing their best but with clueless uninterested owners they don’t stand a chance

Had a great stay here. Room was clean & tidy, staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast was very nice, the bacon & sausage were especially good. I slept really well, in a very comfortable bed. A lovely place, in a lovely village, next to the river Nene.

We had a beautiful wedding reception. The food and staff were amazing and so helpful. Everything went so well . All our family and friends enjoyed themselves so much. Beautiful surroundings by the river. I will definitely book here again for any other celebrations.

We gathered here for my cousin’s 60th and it’s a proper village pub with friendly staff, good food and a good selection of real ale. There’s a lovely outdoor space close to the water and the pub put on a fantastic barbecue, really exceptionally well cooked, tasty food. We hadn’t managed to book a room here and stayed at the Haycroft Manor up the road at Wansted (also highly recommend this). When I asked about getting a cab over there, the landlord said he’d take us himself…really kind and way beyond what he had to do! I’m not suggesting that would be a regular thing, but it tells you a lot about the sort of warm and friendly place it is!

Having booked at 11.30 am on Sunday Morning for a 14.45 dinner when it was served disappointingly they had run out of Cauliflower cheese. They could have told this when we arrived but no waited until they served us with the remark 'sorry we've run out of Cauliflower cheese we'll knock fiver off the bill', both my wife and daughter were looking forward to having Cauliflower cheese with their dinner. When i asked the chef why they had run out he said (arrogantly) it was because we had booked late, and he had prepared all it all early in the morning! Really, giving over 3 hours notice is a late booking for a restaurant? why take the booking if they knew they never had enough stock. They were not very busy so that was no excuse, the bowl of vegetables for 3 people was paltry with that attitude towards customers we wont be going back!

Such a lovely country pub with a real warm and friendly environment. A real country feel with a beautiful log fire and amazing food. Highly recommend to everyone. 100% will be returning. Great experience

Had dinner here, service was slow, food very reminiscent of the 80’s and expensive. Needs a better, more creative menu. The hand cut chips were excellent and the French fries below average so why serve the burger only with these? Give an option. Also, the burger bun was like something from the market whereas brioche would have been way better and the burger, whilst huge was devoid of any flavour.

Had a 2 night stay here including breakfast. The pub itself was cosy and very friendly. Rooms let down by cleanliness I’m sad to say. Shower and sink plug holes full of hair, cobwebs in corners and room was just tired looking. We had 2 evening meals… food delicious. Served hot and very tasty… best pub meals I’ve had in a very long time. Breakfast was great, really tasty.Big choice cereal toast and a full English of your choice with tea/coffee. Plenty of room to park. Location was fab… beautiful area and would love to revisit in warmer months.
