Well, what can we say about this utter delight, tucked away from the bustling streets. Ravindra Singh the Operations ***ager went out of his way to make our stay extra special, the Stepwell dinner was out of this world, such an experience, really you must do this. The leopard spotting was super well organised, sadly we did not see one in the morning, but had a call early evening stating they had seen one, off we went, and yes, there she was. Absolutely beautiful to see in their natural setting, it’s a must. The gardens are lit by candlelight each evening and it is simply magical. Our rooms was decorated to a degree we have never seen before it was such fun for our wedding anniversary, a lot of effort had gone into this!!. Pool was lovely and the food we had in the evening was sensational, I can not praise this hotel enough on so ***y levels. Without doubt staff training is high on their agenda all staff were so very very helpful, it was an absolute privilege to stay there. Thank you so very much.

Since we decided to celebrate our 5th anniversary in Rajasthan, I did a little research and discovered Rawla Narlai. Rawla Narlai has a rich history that dates back to the 17th century when it was built as a hunting lodge by the Jodhpur royal family. The highlight of our stay here, had to be the Step-well dinner at a historic 18th century baori which was used to collect rainwater for the local community. Our evening began in true Rajasthani fervor- Ashutosh was dressed in a Rajputi pagdi and I was adorned in a bandhani odhani. Our journey into the wilderness happened in a bullock cart with a lantern bearing guide. We then approached the 1100 year old step-well-Ambabag, illuminated with more than 500 oil lamps and lanterns. In the setting of a dramatic starry sky and old folk tunes played by a sadhu, next to a blazing fire- it felt like time travel! We were served a delicious traditional five-course Rajasthani meal prepared by the warm and friendly locals. The entire experience seemed like stepping into a fairytale- something that would remain etched in our memories for a very long time.

I would rate the leopard safari far superior than our trip to Ranthambore to (not) see tigers. Ended up just being the 2 of us on the jeep with very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable guide and driver. We were given binoculars, tea, biscuits, water etc. and the guide sent us all the photos he took with his ‘proper’ camera. Fantastic service! Oh.. and the hotel is excellent too! Only stayed one night, wish it had been longer.

This has to be a life-long memory. The ambience, the hotel quality, the room size and decor, the pool, the staff, then there is the stepwell and the leopard safari! Sadly we did not have enough energy for the morning climb. Just fabulous and you need at least 2 days to take it all in.

Rawla Narlai never disappoints! This is my 5th stay and I was as impressed with the service, cuisine, spa and accommodation as I have been on every visit. The warmth with which you are not only welcomed onto the property, but also within the village, is wonderful. The array of activities keeps you as busy as you wish to be, whilst the pool and spa are fabulous places to relax and enjoy being out of the hustle and bustle of Rajasthan's much busier cities. And, of course, the onsite jewellery shop is an all time favourite - stunning pieces and great prices. I would return far more often if I didn't live so far away! And needless to say - I will return!

Beautiful hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming, gorgeous courtyard at the heart of the hotel to sit and relax. Lovely pool as well - enjoyed sitting by the pool as weather was warm, able to have a drink and something to eat as well by the pool. Went on the leopard safari and saw 2 leopards. Also did the Stepwell Dinner - if you stay here this is a MUST do dinner.

Our stay at Rawla Narlai was magical. A boutique heritage hotel with heart. Everything about it immerses you in the history and hospitality Rajasthan is known for. Our room was very spacious with a large balcony facing the majestic Elephant rock. The staff are attentive and courteous and nothing is too much trouble. We loved trying out the delicious typical Rajasthani snack that was offered every morning. We walked up into the hills above the village to a hidden cave with a Siva shrine. Walking around the village we were welcomed into the village school and the Jain temple with beautiful marble carvings. Dinners at Rawla Narlai on the terrace were wonderful with the hotel lit up in soft lanterns lights under a starry sky. The Stepwell dinner was the highlight of our 3 weeks tour in Rajasthan. The whole space lit up with thousands of candles, the traditional music and food, everything was simply magical and will live in our memory for a long time. I would highly recommend a stay here and definitely the Stepwell dinner.
