Les Chambres des Barques

After 10 hours of travelling, we arrived behind the main door about 8 pm and there was one other customer behind the door as well. He has been trying to get in and tried all the possible things without success. We used the right keycode to door and the lock did ”clicked” but door stayed locked as it clearly was locked behind the door. We tried all the tricks as well, rang the bell, used the door code (with letter after number and without, used the physical key in the key box etc). We all tried to call to owner, sent messages through different channels… Luckily we found other option in Narbonne even it was getting late. 2 DAYS after the episode the owner sent a message to me and told ”you forgot to use the A-letter after the key code” which is a lie of course, and the continues to argue with me.

This hotel is convenient to all the restaurants and sights in Narbonne. Parking is next to the market, which is a short walk from the hotel. The owner/manager sent clear information for self-check-in. The room was large with an en-suite bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The downside to the hotel is that nothing about its appearance is welcoming. Although the hotel rooms are clean, it looks downmarket. The wallpaper is torn or peeling in areas, the curtains look tired and wrinkled, and the pain was chipped throughout the building. The furniture in the room was a mish-mash of styles (and not in a good way). Our room also had loose ceramic tiles, which could pose a safety hazard. A few cosmetic changes to make the hotel a bit more cheerful would make a huge difference.
