Lovely grounds with beautiful hydrangas along paths. Private bungalows. Bungalow very rustic. I was concerned because there was no screen on the patio door but it was so cool at night we closed the door. Not any bugs. The staff was very nice and friendly and helpful. We had 2 meals at restaurant and both were excellent. Our server, Minor, was so happy! Maybe a little bit better cleaning and maintenance: loose door handle to room, and the bottom of shaving mirror was very dirty, along with the picture in the toilet room. The restaurant area was beautiful; rustic fireplace, beautiful setting and lovely balcony. Note: Beer and wine only. Composting toilets. Figure that out with disposing of used toilet paper.

Chayote Lodge was so beautiful, I stayed for 2 nights in May. The ever changing weather added to the atmosphere of staying in the cloud forest. A real haven of calm, nature and friendliness. The room, and view was incredible, and the staff were all so lovely and helpful. I did the coffee plantation tour, bird watching and waterfall hike. I highly recommend all of these trips, but beware that they are a little pricey. I highly recommend Chayote Lodge for a really relaxing break.

This place was amazing - only downside was were here for one night before heading to San Jose Airport - would have loved to have stayed longer to enjoy the place more. The bungalows are stunning, beautifully laid out with stunning views - even more so in the evening. The service was exceptional, we arrived early which was a surprise to them and even though they had a staff issue we were still booked in and allowed into our room and then were offered lunch (which was beautiful) with ample portions of wine. the evening meal was stunning -possibly the nicest steak we had eaten on the whole holiday and then we were leaving really early in the morning (3am) and they insisted on provided a pack up breakfast - they couldn't do enough for us and the whole place had a lovely family feel to it.

My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay Chayote Lodge. The property was beautiful — perched on the hillside, with stunning views down into the valley. Each unit was spacious, attractive, and very clean, with a very unique hanging balcony with great views. We enjoyed the opportunity to Birdwatch on the property and we love the location for exploring the region. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and it was great to have the on-site restaurant. Definitely recommend Chayote Lodge!

We stayed at Chayote Lodge on our first and last night of our honeymoon travelling around Costa Rica. This is a great alternative to staying in San Jose before and after flying as it’s 50 minutes away from the airport. Chayote Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. The setting is beautiful, very peaceful with an amazing view. The lodges themselves are big, comfortable, done to a really good standard and so quiet. Food is also excellent. Many locals come for dinner which is always a good sign. We would definitely stay there again.

We only stayed 2 nights at Chayote lodge but it was a pleasant experience. The lodges are designed in a rustic way but are very clean and well equipped (no hairdryer). The bed is especially comfortable. The view over the San Jose valley and the mountains beyond is unsurpassable. There is a good size balcony where you can sit and watch the sunset - no mosquitoes, just the odd sound of monkeys and birds. The restaurant serves fairly basic local food but the portions are good. I would recommend a guided tour to the nearby coffee plantation (half a day). This was really interesting and informative. We didn't have time but other guests there had also visited the botanical gardens which they said was well worth it. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stunning setting; a comfortable and cosy lodge with great viewing deck, friendly staff and delicious food. A real hideaway from the tourist trail offering hummingbirds, tranquility, homestay, waterfall and other tours. Highly recommend.

Beautiful view from our cabin into the valley below, breezes were heavenly. Only one server at breakfast was below expectations and didn’t exude the warmth/welcoming atmosphere/friendliness and hospitality that the others did. Food was delicious. Temperature of the water in the shower was challenging to regulate. Great accommodations to finish out our 10 day journey through Costa Rica.

What a spot ! Wonderful views and unique cabins which replicate old coffee collection stations. The cabins look plain externally but are immaculately set-out & decorated & comfortable, with the most incredible views back over the central valley. Lovely staff (including the house dog ‘chayote’) and reasonably priced, good quality food/drink. Great base for a 2 night stay in the coffee plantations immediately after your arrival in San Jose.
