Ryokan Kosen Kazeya Group

The most cost-effective Japanese hotel in the same price range and location.

The Ryokan is about a 20-minute walk from Nara Station. The biggest advantage of this Ryokan is its location. Immediately next to the hotel you can walk to the temples and to Nara Park. That is very nice with the free-roaming deer, especially during Sakura. You will receive a friendly welcome and people speak good English. They try to make their guests feel completely at ease. We had a Japanese style room with futon beds. The room was spacious. There was a shared bathroom, but you had your own toilet with sink. We stayed here one night. We had breakfast in the room. It was extensive but entirely Japanese. So hot food and we as Dutch people don't like that. We walked to the Seven Eleven for sandwiches and coffee. As mentioned, we stayed one night and that was a good thing. Unfortunately it was not clean. We were not used to that in Japan. Dirty stains on the ceiling in the room, just like on the walls. Lots of hair in the drain in the shower. And the futons were in very bad condition. Slept badly because of that. Too bad because the service from the employees was top notch. But next time I'll look at something else because the price did not match the quality.

An establishment in its own right but quiet with everything you need from attentive staff a very good breakfast.. the establishment is more 3 stars but good enough for one night. My ryokan is dated but a certain charm and semdbains and toilets are in each room so everything is ok
