AMAR ANWAR
June 28, 2023
Location:
3 min walk to Naples Central Station & Naples Garibaldi
There’s a food court in the station with Italian, Mexican and American fast food.
A Chinese supermarket is also near the hotel
So for grabbing a quick something to eat or drink
A lot of the reviews talk about safety. Yes, near the station there are several people who are homeless and sleep outside the station. In addition we saw a woman collapsed, seemed drunk (around 3pm) and I had to help a man who was on the floor bleeding from the head.
This is not the hotels fault and if you need to be near the station then there’s not much you can do about it.
There are so many people around though that this brings you safety, you won’t be walking down an ally alone. However, Naples itself is not that big and better to stay in the historic centre and travel to the station
Service:
Trip.com states a double or twin room without being able to select. I tried to call the hotel to ask for a double room but the number on trip.com was out of service. When we arrived the front desk said they were sold out but did some magic and got us a double room. Thanks for this.
Breakfast:
A small selection of pastries and cake, yogurt, juice…in fact if I list it, it seems fine, but drinking out of plastic cups and using plastic spoons and it not being buffet is not the best way to start your day.
Hotel:
The public areas are fine. It’s an old building but clean.
Room:
It’s small, like most Europe hotels, small is expected. But there is only a fridge on demand from front desk, a desk, a window that does not open, and the bed pushed on the wall with little walkway to one side
The duvet had a stain on it, but we never slept on it
The bed is comfortable and the AC is good.
The cleanliness is lacking, you can tell everything is old and needed a deep steam clean. There feels like a layer of dust on the surfaces and floor.
Bathroom:
The sink is akin to what you find on a train, small, round. But has counter space. It has a toilet and bidet. The shower / bath combo has a blue light for whatever reason, hard to see anything.
I don’t know if it’s my eyes or the colour of the sink being reflected, but the water did not seem clear, it’s not dirty, but not crystal either.
Hairdryer is great is if you like to hear noise without getting hair dry.
Overall:
Most of the above has been negative, but…the price was cheap and for a short stay you can bear it. The historic centre is a better location to be. More to do, more to see and feels safer. But you’ll pay for this.
We used Naples as a place to visit other places such as Pompeii, as such being close to the station is useful for us.
For a short stay this hotel is fine, especially if you don’t spend much time in your room.
