Hotel is within walking distance to many attractions in Nanjing (Fuzi Temple, Old East Gate) and these places turn incredibly stunning at night. Facilities, cleanliness and amenities are what you would expect at a 5 star hotel and it is within the confines of a traditional picturesque garden which guests can access 24/7. Slightly disappointed that the Chinese Opera Show is only available on Fridays and Saturdays.

The hotel was nicely located in Nanjing‘s old town area. From the hotel you could take nice walks into the old city with its beautiful streets (especially during night with nice lanterns).
The staff was friendly and tried to help us out during our stay. The rooms are decorated in old style and the facilities are in okay conditions. Some areas or parts of facilities may need some renewals.
Unfortunately, the hotel was very empty when we have been there. The breakfast was limited during our visit and going to the pool required upfront reservation (same as for the breakfast) which limited the service quality somewhat. It was nice on the other hand that the hotel provided us daily a small box of fresh fruits and a small snack. We hope the service can improve when the visitors return. The garden could be visited but some pathways have been closed for renovation.
Overall, we can recommend the hotel when it will be more busy again.

Facilities: Unique style among many five-star hotels. Built around the former residence. The suite looks like a big bed, but there are actually 2 sofa beds available. Three of us can sleep without any pressure.
Sanitation: Clean and tidy
Environment: No.1 Nanjing Garden Hotel. Pure Chinese architecture. Unfortunately, I didn’t take photos.
Service: The staff is very friendly and professional. Stay at ease.
2 tickets for the Summer Palace Mustard Garden Cultural Exhibition Hall: 3 tickets were given to us.
Exquisite snack food box: Specialty cakes.
Welcome fruit: Breakfast fruit is also delicious.
