GGuest UserI can't recommend this guesthouse enough! I had originally planned a quick one-night stay in Taxia Village to visit the Tulou, but unexpectedly ended up staying for five days. From a purely sightseeing perspective, this small Hakka ancient village in Taxia doesn't really require a five-day stay. What truly captivated me and made me extend my stay, beyond the village's rustic tranquility, was the incredibly warm hospitality of the Uncle and Auntie, who treated me like family.
Traveling during the off-season, Auntie didn't hesitate to upgrade my room. Seeing I was a solo traveler, she invited me to share all three meals with them, just like an old friend. In a village with limited dining options, I didn't have to worry about food for a single day. I must sincerely thank Auntie again; she's an amazing cook! For someone like me who's lived away from home for a long time and rarely gets to return, experiencing the warmth of having delicious, home-cooked meals waiting every day was truly special. Uncle was equally hospitable. He proactively took me to visit the nearby Tulou, sharing insights into the local culture and customs along the way, which gave me a much deeper understanding of this small mountain village.
The happiest moments each day were after dinner, sitting down with Uncle and Auntie, shedding the day's fatigue, and chatting over tea. During the day, I even got to go up the mountain with Auntie to dig sweet potatoes and pick persimmons, truly experiencing authentic rural life. The day before I left, Auntie even helped me arrange a shared ride to the city. If you're a solo traveler like me without a car, this place is undoubtedly your best choice, as Uncle and Auntie will go above and beyond to help you with any issues you might encounter while traveling alone.
I've only just left, and I already miss the idyllic scenery of the small bridge and flowing stream outside the guesthouse, and Auntie's wonderful cooking. For me, this was a profoundly warm and relaxing journey. I truly believe I'll return to Taxia Village, stay at this guesthouse again, and enjoy tea and conversations with Uncle and Auntie by the stream.
