2-Star Hotels in Nanjing

I think this will be hard to beat if you want to visit the Tulou, especially at this price tag. You’re not in a Tulou itself but next door to the most famous Tulou cluster with the best viewpoint in the region only a few minutes walk up the hill. The hotel is of course quite remote but they’ll help you arrange a driver from Nanjing train station, who can also take you around the main attractions for a little over 1,000 RMB. The family running the hotel is very friendly, and while the rooms are basic they are comfortable enough, and again the location is incredible!

What an amazing experience to live in the “chopsticks” buildings of the four dishes and one soup! This was a small and beautiful village and the family who ran the inn helped us carry our luggage up to the inn and later down to the inn. When we arrived they cooked a dinner which was reasonable in price based on a local menu. And then during dinner, they told us that one of the family members will be running a free tour of the Tulous of four dishes one soup for us in which they explained the history of the building of the tulous, especially the oval shaped tulou. Our guide was very funny with his stories (he spoke in Chinese) and it was a lovely time seeing the artists and candy makers in the Tulous. I would highly recommend this place. We did have to bring our own towels (or at least we brought our own and they didn’t supply one), so maybe best to check.

This is a unique experience for those wishing to stay in a traditional tulou. The rooms were clean and simple, and the residents of the tulou friendly and welcoming. The shared toilet facilities are outside the building, and there is a bucket outside each room for use at night time. You can eat inside the tulou for dinner and lunch or there are a few other options in the Tianluokeng village. A beautiful setting and a very memorable experience.

The room personally feels very good. Although there is no window for the choice of stay, there is no impact in winter. The price is reasonable. The reception is also warm. I go to Nanjing for business every time I stay here. I will continue to stay later.

Fantastic experience. The owners are super friendly and helpful! I recommend contacting them on wechat ahead of time to be picked up from the train station (ID: qing-de-lou) as it is about an hour away. I stayed 2 nights which meant that on the day I arrived I walked and explored the local Tulou, on the second day I drove around with the hotel owner to explore some other Tulou which I'd really recommend doing. I think all for a fair price! Lots of nice restaurants a short walk from the hotel.

Amazing experience. Manager helped make everything perfect. Hotel courtyard by night is gorgeous. Stone street outside lining narrow river is full of rushing waterfalls and magical at sunset, and after dark. Make sure to eat in hotel restaurant—sitting in the tea shop is best. Delicious tofu, eggplant, and potato “silk” dishes. Best of all is the cauliflower! Also, iced passion fruit-lime juice…I drank two glasses after every run. Manager also will serve endless cups of tea from her father’s tea farm up the mountain. As local as local gets here. Hekang village only 4-5 km down mountain road, while it’s about 8km up to a famous tulou village. But tulous are everywhere around, including several inside Taxia. Unbelievable place. 3 nights should be the absolute minimum stay. Oh, and the cats are friendly and at least one wants to meet you!

The location of the inn is excellent. It is old (100 years old) and is suitable for those who want to experience staying in an earth building (there is a separate bathroom in this earth building). The boss was very enthusiastic and drove to the gate of the scenic spot to greet us personally, making him feel like he was staying at home. It’s just that the hygiene of the bedding needs to be improved!

Been there from 2nd to 4th of Jan, Great place, better stay at least a couple of nights to fully enjoy the tulou life. Mr Huang and wife were amazing, some of the most hospitable people I’ve ever met. They cooked food for us and gave the best advices about exploring the surroundings. If you have time, at sunset, walk up to the bus stop and find the little gap in the guardrail, it will bring you straight to the rice terraces. Can see the Tulou Complex from a different point of view!

Staying at ”Nanjing Tulou Yunlai Mountain Villa”, the beautiful boss was very enthusiastic, and also upgraded the room, and told us the best route to visit the attractions. What made me feel the deepest was the boss's enthusiasm. Although breakfast, lunch and dinner are home-cooked dishes, they taste very good, and the ingredients are all green foods. The most commendable thing is that I do not slaughter guests. In addition, the villa is the closest to the four dishes and one soup attraction, and it is also the highest mountain view. It is very convenient to take night views at night. The most important thing is that it is especially convenient for self-driving parking. There are plenty of free parking spaces. It is worth recommending to everyone.
