Shima Tamura

A very nice hot spring hotel, the outdoor hot spring is amazing. Very relaxing. The overall experience was great. It's also close to Jishenkan. A traditional hot spring hotel with a great atmosphere. There are very few Chinese people.

For me, free-flowing baths are important, so this is an inn I've always wanted to stay at in Shima Onsen, which has a lot of hot water. The baths were free-flowing, and the hot springs were great. The baths that are switched for men and women were very warm when I went in, which was disappointing, but my husband said it was just right when he went in. The corridors and facilities feel old, but the room wasn't that bad. We stayed at Suiyokukan, so the baths were a long way away, and it was a bit of a hassle to change elevators. If you're staying at Mokuyokukan, it seems like it would be more convenient to go to the baths. There was no information on parking or how to get to the room, so considering the price, I think the hospitality could be a little better.

It was a ryokan with a nice atmosphere with a thatched roof. Since there are many kinds of hot springs, we arrived early and started touring hot springs. I stayed in a room with a bath, but I need to fill the hot water by myself. The open-air bath called Phantom Ryugu was closed during the winter, so next time I visit it will be a time other than winter. The hot spring was wonderful with an open-air bath where you can see the waterfall. The steamed vegetables and fish for dinner and the porridge cooked in the hot spring for breakfast are really delicious and highly recommended.

It was my first visit. The hotel has a historic feel. It's a shame that the roof was under repair. It was a Sunday, but there were quite a few customers when I checked in. You can tell it's a popular hotel. The staff member who first greeted me at the entrance was a little slow to respond, but he was never bureaucratic or cold. The room was a maisonette type, spacious, and well-cleaned. This is just my personal preference, but I was happy that the water heater in the room was a Russell Hobbs. I couldn't use one of the hot springs, but the water quality in the large bath and the open-air bath was gentle on the skin and excellent. The bathtub, which was divided into three water temperatures, was also good. However, the shower temperature in the washing area suddenly fluctuates. Even though the water was at the right temperature, it suddenly turned cold. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The portions were just right, and the staff member's attitude was pleasant. The foreign staff member who was in training was also polite and friendly. My husband said that the hot springs and the food were wonderful and that he would like to come again. I was given a numbered ticket for check-in and told to wait for 35 minutes until I was called, but I wasn't called. I was shocked when the reception was empty and asked, "What did you do?" When I entered the room, there was a note that said the shower in the room could not be used at night... Shouldn't this have been written when making the reservation? If I had known, I would not have stayed at a hotel with a bath. And when the cake I had ordered in advance came out, they didn't even put the candles in, so I had to light them myself. The letters on the plate were wrong and the plastic was still wrapped around the cake, so I got very angry at the food attendant, but in the end they just said they would check the plate and there was no apology. The worst thing about this inn is that they didn't apologize. I think anyone would get angry.
