Gold View Hotel & Spa fell short of delivering a transparent and consistent experience, and I hope management takes steps to adhere to consumer protection standards by clearly displaying prices and documented policies to avoid misleading guests. These issues significantly impacted our stay, and future guests deserve a more transparent and professional approach. Breakfast Charges and Pricing Transparency We would have been happy to pay for any additional items if we had been informed that they came with extra charges. However, we only found out during checkout that certain breakfast items were billed separately. When we asked to see a menu with the prices listed, we were told that no such menu existed. In the UK, businesses are legally required to display clear pricing for food and beverages to prevent misleading customers, as outlined under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. This lack of transparency around pricing was a disappointing oversight that left us feeling misled. Spa Access Policy One of the main reasons we chose Gold View Hotel & Spa was the advertised spa access included in our booking. However, upon arrival, we were told we couldn’t use the facilities before the official check-in time due to "high demand." Only after expressing our disappointment did they reluctantly allow us entry, at which point we found the spa mostly empty. The hotel’s explanation seemed inconsistent and arbitrary, and when we asked to see the spa access policy, neither the front desk nor the manager could provide documentation to support their claim. As with pricing, failure to communicate policies clearly and consistently can also fall under misleading practices according to UK consumer protection standards. Gold View Hotel & Spa has the potential to offer a great experience, but these lapses in transparency and communication significantly detract from it. Future guests should be aware of these issues, and we hope the management takes constructive steps to improve clarity and professionalism in their operations.
