The hotel is only a three-star hotel. We went to Nafplio on a weekend, and there were no rooms in other hotels during the whole trip. In the end, we had to book this hotel. Indeed, as other friends said, the hotel facilities are old and the rooms are not big. In short, if you can avoid lightning, just avoid lightning.

Hotel Amphitryon is a classic well designed hotel in Nafplion with picturesque views of the port. When first constructed 25 years ago it was really unique but now with many new boutique hotels around needs an urgent renovation or to lower its extravagant prices for what it provides as it is now. The rooms are small, functional but look tired bed is really bad for sensitive backs. Breakfast room is pleasant and has sufficient variety but still everything is plain and for the most part tasteless. Overall classic but resigned in all except the high price!

Amphitryon Hotel is just very sad. It may have been a luxury hotel once, but it’s NOT anymore. Its maintenance is so lacking that the entire place is crumbling. Aside from the dilapidated condition, there is no access to the Internet in your room. Spotty Internet is available in the lobby. There is no food available at any time except for the meager breakfast. They promise 24 hour room service, but you could starve to death here. Helios Resorts has neglected the Amphitron to the point it will take thousands to bring it back to a decent hotel . It is miserable to stay here now. They need to sell it rather than allow it to be left in this condition. Shame on Helios! PS: there is a great staff, but they’re working under impossible conditions.

This “5-star” hotel is really living off its view. The view is beautiful. Everything else is terrible. The hotel is very outdated. Please read other reviews before booking here. The showers don’t stay warm. The AC didn’t work, so we had to open the door to the outside the whole time. Bugs would fly in, and people in Greece party into the early morning, so we were awakened several times by people screaming outside. The WiFi does not work, and when I contacted the front desk, they just told me sorry, we are at full capacity. We ended up heading back to Athens a day early because we couldn’t stand being in this hotel any longer.

We booked 2 rooms for the 3 of us, my mother and my son and I. 5 stars for hotel location and view. 1 star for the rest. Not the employees fault. They are severely understaffed, there is nowhere to truly sit, rest drink anything. Pool shared with hotel which is above, u need to walk uphill. Pity, it could have been a super gem. Invest in your hotel, owner !!!!!

Photos do not reflect reality. There was no sunroof deck, just a bare space with no furniture, floorboards coming up. Room was tiny, no shelves or hooks in bathroom, had to move three sets of sliding doors to open the small drawers. Lobby and rooms were dreary. Food was ok, location of hotel was good, but so much street noise at night that it was a problem sleeping (and we live on a noisy street in Manhattan, so we are used to noise). Worst problem was NO internet in rooms; you had to go down to lobby or lounge in order to access the internet.

Believe the low reviews. The hotel was likely once lovely and boasts a great location and views. However the hotel has been poorly maintained and is suffering for updates and a more diligent cleaning staff. The pool is at a sister property up the hill but we were unable to access it due to a private event which was frustrating since we explicitly booked this hotel to have a pool. The WiFi did not work. There was no staff in sight at the front deck or the bar to order a drink.
