Rex Hotel

The second weakest of the seven hotels my programme used in Greece. At first sight, the room was fine, but there was a problem with flooding in mine and some student rooms. The particular desk clerk that day, very unusually for Greece, was rather perfunctory and indifferent about the situation. The hotel dragged its feet about moving us and solving the problems. Breakfast was fine, but nothing special. Good location. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again.

State for two nights in late December 2021. What you'll probably like... +Front desk staff were very friendly. During check-in and check out the front desk staff could not have been nicer. When I requested a second pillow, the desk clerk kindly brought it directly to my room. +There is plenty of free parking nearby. Just park on the curb or at the enormous parking lot by the port. +Hotel location is convenient. It's not quite inside The pedestrian only part of the city so it's easily accessible by car. Yet it's only a 5-minute walk to the center of the city. +I'm not much of a breakfast eater, but the breakfast was very good. Plenty of choices, and the food was fresh. +Price was very inexpensive, under 55 Euro per night. What your certain to dislike... +Free internet is absolutely useless. So slow that Gmail wouldn't even open. +No English language TV channels. +Rooms are extremely warm and stuffy. Absolutely no ventilation. After showering the room is like a sauna. Building has old style climate control with seasonal heat and air conditioning. When I checked in the room temperature was 26° c. I promptly shut off that heat and opened the window. It took over 24 hours for the temperature to come down to 24 degrees Celsius. During that whole time I breathed smokey air from all of the local fireplaces. I called the front desk and requested a small fan for ventilation, and twice they said there are no fans anywhere in the hotel. +Room is too small for a full size bed. As a single room, they should have just used a twin bed. The full size bed is squeezed into the room leaving no space to walk easily or store your luggage. +Bathtub / shower is so narrow that it's difficult to use as a shower. Bathtub is deep so it probably would have made a nice soaking tub, however after showering the room becomes a sauna with no ventilation.
