Although the location is remote, there are surprises in every aspect

Right in front of the sea. The hotel is located on a hill. The rooms and baths are clean and very satisfying. However, the water temperature is a little low, which was a bit of a problem (visited in October: the website also said that the temperature was low). In addition to the indoor bath, there are two ceramic Goemon-like baths. The open-air bath is comfortable. The starry sky seen from the rooftop is wonderful. You can see a lot of stars. (But that is the floor where the lobby is located.) It is far from the nearest station and you need a shuttle to get there. If you have a car, it is easy to get to Kumano Nachi Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha, and Kumano Hongu Taisha. It is only a half-day course to stop by Hashiguiiwa and go to Shionomisaki, the southernmost point of Honshu.

First of all, the cost performance was great. Speaking of Katsuura, there are famous hotels and inns, but I was satisfied with the location and facilities. If the weather is nice, you can see the beautiful sunrise over the Pacific Ocean from the observation deck outside the hotel lobby, and there is also a large public bath and an open-air bath, so you can enjoy bathing while soaking up the morning sun. In addition, when making a reservation, you can choose a course for your meal, and it also comes with something like a buffet, and you can have tempura freshly fried on the spot. We recommend that elderly people choose a bed room.

Kumano Sea is right in front of you. The entrance is on the 4th floor, with a front desk and a viewing terrace. However, due to the unfortunate weather and gloomy outlook during our visit, we did not use the observation terrace. The rooms were located on the 1st to 5th floors. At check-in, the front desk showed us the location of the front desk, elevators, rooms, bathrooms, and restaurant on a small map of the building, which was very convenient. The dining location was a restaurant, but due to the coronavirus, seats were spaced apart. Since we visited in July, where different menus are prepared depending on the season, we decided to try ``tuna.'' A menu was placed on the table. Seafood is the main dish, but Kumano beef loin teppanyaki is also available. It's not a big deal, but I think it's "satisfactory". The baths consist of a large bath, silk skin bath, ceramic bath, and open-air bath, but you have to go down the stairs to access the ceramic bath and open-air bath. Unfortunately, the weather was not good, so the view was not satisfactory.
