Malaika Beach Resort

I had a relaxing stay at this hotel. The views are out of this world. Their breakfast buffet is top-tier and comprehensive with complimentary champagne. Their meals whether buffet or ala carte are fairly priced and so are their drinks. The staff at the restaurant are professional, welcoming, and very helpful whatever training they have undergone needs to be replicated across all the staff. The rooms all have a view of the lake and have a reasonably stocked minibar. The bed is large and you get a comfortable night's sleep. The rooms are spacious and have A.C. and the bathrooms are large and have all the toiletries you need. The hotel has a nightclub which is awesome. For the best experience visit in on Sunday, Saturday night works too. The Views! The Views! Well-manicured grounds, an infinity pool the list is endless. The only feedback I would like to give for purposes of service improvement is that; 1. On the day of check-in, the guy who took me to my room was not too keen on showing me around the room/ was too casual, and had a weird attitude which was unfortunate and unwelcoming. 2. A professional approach when verifying whether guests are residents when accessing resident-only areas is needed. I was being asked ”Who have you come to see here” - in an undermining tone by the staff at the pool as well as in the evenings when getting my key from the reception possibly because I was a solo lady traveler or didn't fit whatever pre-conceived model guest the staff had in their minds or are used to here. This was rather insulting and unwelcoming and I consistently made sure I carried my room key with me to avoid embarrassment. Solo lady travellers do exist and they should not be subjected to bias. 3. During my checkout one of the front desk personnel solicited a tip, it was masked in a lot of consistent incoherent jokes but was really solicitation, which made me so uncomfortable, I would have tipped anyway despite not having the best experience with the non-restaurant staff throughout my stay as I have stated. I found this to be unprofessional for a hotel of this caliber and as a guest, I felt pressurized/cornered. Overall, I would still visit again as the pros outweigh the cons and I really did enjoy my stay here and did not let the few unfortunate experiences overshadow my stay.

Loved the pool and the restaurant but the high light is most definitely the spa!!! Amazing Wema is an excellent masseuse and we came back twice in one week!!! Don't miss it! I didn't stay in the hotel but saw the rooms and would come to stay next time I'm in Mwanza. We did come for the pool and restaurant. The restaurant has a pleasant garden with nice breeze and the wifi is strong.
