Hotel in perfect location to get in and out of Basel easily, thanks to the local tram and train stations. Hotel was full but very quiet; staff friendly and helpful and the room clean and tidy. Service was as expected in Switzerland: excellent. Although breakfast was in the next door Co-Op facility there was not need for concern: it was never busy and food was excellent. Oh and Muttenz is a lovely village combing modern and traditional.
Overall, a very relaxing and happy stay and highly recommended!

On the positive side: location is great, only ten minutes from Basel, by train. Station is nearby. The room is spacious, bathroom as well, and clean. Coffee and tea making facilities are available in the room, and a small fridge. Windows can be opened. On the negative side: no AC, and room was on the south side. To use the coffee/tea making facilities, it's a bit of a hassle to find a socket to plug them in. The beds are soft, and covered with some sort of plastic sheet, which feels quite cheap, and makes you sweat even more. If ordered breakfast, this is served in the Coop Restaurant. We used this on our first day. It was explained to us that some products were included in the price, for other products we had to pay extra. So we did, and were observed by a Coop staff member to make sure that we paid for our extra items. We were very surprised to see another couple using the restaurant shop as a buffet. They filled their plates three times, and were never summoned to go to the cashier. We thought this was very weird and decided to go elsewhere for breakfast, no hassle, no questioning, and worth our money. The hotel is okay for a couple of nights, maximum.

The Hotel Baslertor is located in the beautiful town of Muttenz just outside Basel. The hotel has a great staff, updated rooms, wonderful location with walkable shoppes and restaurants, and the transit system can get you anywhere quickly. Stay here when visiting Basel for a real small village swiss experience.

Place was fine for an overnight stay. Room was very hot though ( as lovely weather) only a fan.
