This is a life time experience. A bucket list. Something great for a couple but we took teenagers who were equally in awe. Gorillas Nest is six star in service, thought, attention to detail. Tim who is GM and Zane, second in command, have the place operating like a well oiled machine. The accommodation is perfect, stilted villas with spacious living area and balcony views, everything is thought out down to the Nespresso machine and wide screen television if you want it. The Nest sleeps 45-50 max. Even when full it doesn’t appear so. The spa has great treatments and excellent masseuse. A good gym and pool. The hotel sits in 85 acres. Electric bikes are provided to zoom around on, or you can call for a buggy or walk. Delicious food and menus, nothing too much trouble to prepare. Staff are all charming. A credit to the hotel. … and the trekking and gorillas. Well breathtaking and I suggest two things if you can, obviously budget dependant: Book treks for two days. You’ll be with a different family of gorillas each day, and we were in different terrain and vegetation on each. If you can, book a private trek, it was very special to do this as a family of four on our own. I can’t say but groups are otherwise a max of eight visitors but you never know who you might end up with standing in your camera view or waking at a different pace. And do ask your company what to tip your trackers, porters and guide. They depend on you in part and so does the local economy, not to mention the gorillas.
