This ‘All Inclusive’ holiday at Alua Sun Continental did not feel as all inclusive as I would have liked. It all began as we checked in, there is a safe in your room the receptionist told us but you will need to pay €3 per day to use it plus €5 for the key to enable the safe to function. Get out of here! I’ve checked into the scabbiest of hotels in the **** end of China and been able to use the safe that is already installed in the room but on my ‘all inclusive’ holiday I had to pay for use of a safe! Next came the towel saga. I don’t know about you but on an all inclusive holiday I expect to be able to get a towel from the pool side and throw it in a basket to be washed at the end of the day. Oh no, not on this ‘all inclusive’ Here you have to leave a deposit of €10 per towel and pay a fee of €1 every time you want the towel changed. Also, at reception, we were informed of the cup policy. €1 is payable for a small token which can be exchanged for a plastic cup in which all your drinks will be served until 6pm. After 6pm the hotel serve drinks in glasses but only Cava is served in a wine glass. Flat wine of any colour comes in a tumbler. Call me old fashioned but personally I like to drink wine from a wine glass. The buffet leaves a lot to be desired. Most of the food is at best tepid, in some cases cold. There is a variety of food but most of it is pretty standard ‘buffet’ fare. Some nights are themed, Chinese, Mexican etc. The pool is a good size with a separate shallow space for toddlers. There is always space in the pool because it is freezing 🥶 . The pool loungers are plentiful and we never had a problem finding one free at any time of the day, problem is they are quite uncomfortable and of course many people are lounging with no towel as they have refused to pay the €10 deposit 😂. I did however enjoy watching the daily exercise classes and daily water polo matches. The entertainment crew also offered table tennis or darts every afternoon hanging out medals and wine to the winners! If you are booking here I hope you don’t enjoy an early morning swim as the pool does not open until 10am and closes promptly at 6pm so bar staff can hand out glasses instead of plastic cups…..see what they did there 😆. Whilst talking of drinks avoid the cocktails. They are pre made and pulled from a pump behind the bar. I’m not sure that they contain any alcohol and are sweet and sickly, taste suitable for a kids party. Also avoid Alina, the look on her face tells you how much she enjoys her work. She served me half a glass of Cava at a time and believe me there’s not much in a whole glass. Alina find another job as this one clearly brings you no joy at all! I didn’t appreciate the eye rolling when I requested sparkling water 🤷🏻♀️. Talking of water there is no bottled water supplied in the room. Did I say this was all inclusive? If you want bottled water you can buy it yourself from the shop next door or get yourself a glass at bed time from the self serve
