Murfreesboro Central Hotel

I'm giving a generous rating, as I would rate the hotel a 2.5 if I could. I travel frequently and usually stay in hotels owned by the competition, but was tired and thought I would try Holiday Inn. The outside of the hotel front didn't look bad and the lobby area was clean, however the parking is bad with very narrow spots crammed into the front of the hotel. You are able to park along the side of the hotel, but there you can get a Birdseye view of how run down the building really is. The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and accommodating, as the original room I was assigned had water on the floor by the bathtub. I didn't notice it at first because the lighting in the bathroom was almost non-existent. The room I was then given was a handicap room, which was spacious and basically clean, but the shower area was haphazardly caulked and the sink area extremely small. There was also a strong sewer smell coming into the bathroom and there was no hot water coming from the sink. The curtains would not close completely as they were partially off the rod and the blackout curtain had numerous holes and cracked areas from age. The carpets in the hallway were dingy and the naugahyde on the chairs in the dining area was pitted and cracked with foam evident on the seats. I did not use the laundry area or the ice machine so don't know anything about those items previously mentioned by other reviewers. The bed was very comfortable, however. The truth is, if I hadn't been driving and was able to read all of the other negative reviews, I would have moved on...wish I had now!

Awesome hotel! Staff was friendly and warm from the time we checked in. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable with fresh bedsheets and pleanty of fresh towels. Housekeeping came by everyday we were there. Also, the fitness room had treadmills, a bench, mats and a full rack of dumbells. Continental breakfast was fresh and got with a great selection of eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, muffins, juice, milk and just about everything else you could think of for breakfast! The location was central Murfreesboro so there's tons of shopping just in walking distance included WalMart. I loved this hotel and I will definitely be back!!

When we entered the room it had a very musty smell. You couldn't open the windows so the smell stayed the entire night. When we woke up the next morning the bathroom was covered in water. We went to breakfast and the buffet was far below the Holiday Inn Express standards. The lobby restrooms both had problems. On of the women's toilets didn't work and the men's urinal didn't work. I asked the clerk to at least reduce the price because of the situation. She refused saying she would add some extra Reward Points. We are considering changing to another hotel chain. It is interesting there are no electric signage identifying these as a Holiday Inn Express property. This property does live up to the Holiday Inn Express standards.

This hotel is very nice and the staff are even nicer. It truly makes a difference when the staff actually shows that they care. My Dad is a disabled veteran and he had alot of complications during his stay. This staff went above and beyond to assist my Father when they did not have to. They did it out of the kindness of their heart. Shelly and Amy were amazing and anyone who interacts with them is lucky. Even the manager AJ reached out to me to check on my Dad. Shelly called me on a daily basis & I cant even list out all that she did to assist during his stay. Thank you all so much!

Highlights - room is big, bed is comfortable, AC works as it should Lows - room could use maintenance updating: walls and ceiling patchwork, curtain falling off the rod, extremely worn tables and furniture. The room seemed clean, until we saw there was pee left of the toilet seat. Disgusting! Breakfast was pitiful! We went at 8am. No forks, toaster or replenishing of empty biscuits and gravy. I’m guessing a toaster wasn’t needed since the bread was stale. Breakfast area in lobby had worn chairs missing ceiling tiles. It’s the little things that are so noticeable. Elevators worked, but noticed the metal plate on wall next to door was bent out at ankle height. That could catch and cut a person’s leg entering the elevator. Will say something to front desk when we check out. Luckily we had an IHG discount from points we have accumulated from being an IHG repeat customer. Paying full price for this place would be a travesty.

First the good. The room was very clean, and the A/C worked like a beast. The downside of the room was that the toilet seat looked like it was chewed on by a rodent and the shower drain seemed to be plugged. I asked the maid to contact maintenance but over 3 days they just couldn't seem to get around to it. Likewise, all three days one of the elevators didn't work nor did the guest laundry services. The breakfast offered was good however, somehow the biscuits were about to make it out on time, but the sausage gravy couldn't seem to get there. The elevator carpet was nasty with dirt. I would opt for other locations in the area as you have lots of choices and price ranges.
