My family of four stayed at Mia's Favorite Hotel for two nights in August 2024. We were quite impressed: the hotel far exceeded our expectations. This being a ski resort with very low occupation in the summer, we got a very cheap rate. We had booked a family suite which consisted of two bedrooms and a bathroom. It was stylishly decorated and equipped with a huge TV with free Netflix, coffee/tea station, hair dryer and very comfortable beds. The bathroom was brand new with a great shower. The room rate included an hour’s private use of the spa area which comprised a huge whirlpool, sauna, Turkish hamam and heated loungers. We made use of this offer on each of our two days there and greatly enjoyed it. Breakfast was buffet style and was very good and varied. The food was fresh and tasty. We had dinner at the hotel as well on the two nights we were there and it was quite good though a little on the pricey side. The staff were all very kind and friendly. Mavrovo National Park is really scenic and well worth a visit in the summer. We did some hiking and visited the Sveti Jovan Bigorski Monastery and really enjoyed our day there.

- Dirty and unhygienic place - The apartments/rooms are quite bare/sparse, nothing for the kitchenette, no furniture to enjoy the 2 balconies we had. - Food at breakfast was terrible, bland and disgusting. - You will not get ‘peaceful’ and ‘tranquil’ here, music until early hours of the morning along with people screaming. - Horrific customer service. HORRIFIC. More below - BLACK MOULD IN THE BATHROOM. At every turn they are making people sick. Dirty and disgusting, no standards for cleaning. Main Event: *Note: I messaged the Hotel months before my arrival, asking if they could accommodate my dietary requirements, to which I got no response. I also tried calling reception multiple times and got no response and no call back. My first day I asked for a pan to cook with as the kitchenette had NO pots or pans or utensils. I was denied a pot, I could hear the chef carrying on when he was asked for the pot /pan, saying “this is the kitchen, she can’t have a pan’, I was then told the kitchenette was ‘just for heating things not for cooking” I pointed out that I can’t heat up anything without a pan, to which he had no answer, just kept telling me the managers said there was nothing to be done, I couldn’t get a pot. But also said ‘there are no suitable pots/pans for the rooms as they are all too big’ which turned out to be a lie. (I have many intolerances/allergies/dietary requirements, which is why after seeing the breakfast options and scouting nearby restaurants I just decided I would probably need to just cook for myself). So I was quite upset wondering how I was going to simply feed myself the 2 days I was there. Therefore when my travel companion found out, they were quite upset for me and decided to go talk to them as well, she went down and demanded a pot, she asked to speak with the chef directly as she wasn’t leaving without a pot to at least boil water in for pasta. She could hear the staff member begging the chef for a pot, saying “could they just borrow a pot for an hour and bring it back”? To which the chef responded “NO!” After more yelling and complaining from the chef he finally handed over a pot after my travel companion demanded that the chef come talk to her face as she could hear him anyway. The pot we got was dirty, it did look like someone had tried to clean it but there was still food all inside of it. Seeing the dirty pot made me glad I decided to cook myself as I can’t even imagine the cross contamination there, and after reading other poor reviews I believe you’d just get sick eating there. Not worth it. After we got the pot we were then quite surprised to be treated so rudely the rest of our stay, lucky we only had 1 more night or we would of left early, all staff, even staff that weren’t there, proceeded to ignore or snap at us and when we asked if they could book us a taxi for the following morning they said they would get back to us with a price which they never did. I had to follow up again for a response, where the

I would’ve given this place a “5” if it weren’t for all the people sitting inside the lobby/restaurant area smoking. There are “no smoking” signs but the staff just let it slide. It was positively vile when walking into the hotel from the fresh air outside – not impressed. Other than that, the hotel was excellent. The setting is nice, across the road from the lake with nice enough views. The service at reception was fine, nothing exceptional. Our room was superb! It was a large, one bedroom apartment with kitchenette and balcony, light and airy, and very clean. The kitchenette was very, very basic, but it had a little mini-fridge which was useful. The bedroom was a bit on the small side but comfortable enough, and we liked all the hooks on the walls – great for hanging up damp clothes. The living area was comfortable and we liked the free Netflix on the TV. The free Wifi internet worked great. The shower was strange – just an open bathtub with a handheld showerhead and no barrier or shower curtain at all. So the water just sprayed everywhere making a watery mess on the floor. There was no drain on the floor so the water just sat there, rotting away the wood and moldings. Not well thought out! One of the nicest aspects of this hotel is the huge outdoor terrace with tables and umbrellas – great place to soak up the sun and enjoy the views. We also ate our dinner (pizza) out there which was excellent. The included breakfast was pretty good, an omelette, fresh veggie/meat platter, plus a small selection of fruit and cereal. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to other travelers.
