Hotels near Karlstor in Munich

So my review is a mixed one, partly positive but deeply dampened by two factors: Firstly, Wombat’s has come to be known as one of if not the party hostel in Munich. That being said - there was no party/pub crawl! (Barring the first night of my stay). This was disappointing, but this was mitigated by the absolutely amazing hosts and guests that I encountered during my stay. I’ll add here that my room was spacious, had a comfy bed and had a great safety system in place for valuables. Now for the second bad bit and this is something I didn’t bring up with them directly as I didn’t want to cause the person I would speak to any distress, but this hostel clearly caters to racists. Above my shower room door (Room 304), there were racial slurs for a number of races and I found it disgusting. How are Black people, white people and Asians supposed to feel comfortable when this what they see in the bathroom? This has to be addressed swiftly or Wombat’s will suffer in the long run.

The hotel is in a great location, near the Munich hauptbahnhof so it’s easy to get to and from the airport with the S Bahn and to get around the city using the Metro. There are also lots of restaurants and the Old City Center within walking distance.

This is a fabulous hotel - clean, all amenities you require, common areas, and close to the Munich central station and within comfortable walking distance of many attractions. We spent 5 nights here and could not fault the hotel or the attention of the staff who were exceptional. Shower was huge with rainwater shower head, bed very comfy. We were not sure whether at our age they would cater for us but we were pleasantly surprised. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for most ages. Would go to this chain again.

Reception misleading for the actual quality of the hotel. My husband and I thought oh no Nice clean hotel Cosy bed and pillows and luxury quality bedding Clean and usable bathroom, with good access to toiletries Biggest tv in a hotel bedroom 😂 but hardly used by us, but I guess if you were staying I for the evening it’s a great addition. Welcome free mini bar and coffee, much needed after days travel Surprised how Quiet it was given how central the hotel is Maybe some information on how to use the ac and blinds would be useful, we struggled with both but it turned out the switch for the blind was broken. This was fixed very quickly after reporting Beautifully decorated, loved all the paintings.

This fairly small private hotel is a joy. The rooms are extremely well appointed and hold one great advantage over similar hotels in the vicinity of Munchen Hbf. ...... they feature kitchenette facilities (microwave, fridge and two electric rings). For supplies there is a Rewe supermarket a few minutes walk from the hotel. The staff are fabulous; from reception to room service. Although Schilerstrasse may not be to everyone's taste the hotel is virtually at the Hbf. end of the street so a visitor, if he/she so wishes, can avoid the 'Hostess' bars which are further down the street. Within a 10 minute walk you are right in the main shopping centre of the city. All the main brewery run restaurants are also within a 30 minute meander ...... Weisses Brauhaus, Andechser am Dom, zum Augustiner and zum Franziskaner.

Smack in the center of Munich facing the Central Station is not posh, but rather convenient and allows direct access to the shopping mile, theaters, museums, cinemas and - yes - the more refined part of town. Inside the hotel happens to be (not brandnew, but) comfy & cosy & fun. The staff is really, really nice, the atmo is relaxed, happening and young. We felt warm and welcome the whole time. I also loved the bicycle in my room! Brilliant idea! The breakfast buffet is yummy, the prices at the Tel-Aviv-Style restaurant for dinner are reasonable. We slept very well and spent a wonderful weekend. I would come back any time.

Great what has become from the former Hotel Herzog Wilhelm. The rooms have been renovated with the great love for detail and there is everything you need. A beautiful, successful shift to the chain hotels. The personal service is also premature and friendly. The location is very central directly at the Sendlinger Gate. Good that there is something like this!

Great location, good water pressure and fresh and tasty breakfast. I liked that omelettes were also a paid optional, as continental breakfast can get boring every day. Walking time to Marienplatz is quick and felt very safe in the area, taking Exit C from the metro also brings you right to the front door.

The stay at the hotel was mildly said disappointing: 1) When we arrived to the hotel, no coffee or water was in the room and it looked like the bathroom hadn't been cleaned from previous stay (long dark hair was found in the shower unit); 2) 7 am in the following morning fire alarm breaks out- we later found out that the hotel kitchen had burnt the food and that caused the alarm. When we addressed the problem regarding the evening before and the fire alarm, we were told they would talk to the manager and come back to us. We did not recieve an apology; 3) When the staff didnt follow back to us as promised, we addressed the issue again to the reception. The staff's initial response was it was not their fault. When we started to walk towards the elevator, the receptionist offered breakfast for the next 2 following mornings as a compensation; 4) The breakfast was midly said embarrasing, as you can see from the pictures. A bare minimum you can expect from a hotel breakfast is scrambled eggs and bacon, but this was not the case. They only used half baked factory bread, only milk to the muesli and juice made of concentrate; 5) I would not call the area friendly neighbourhood where I would feel safe to walk alone. In the same street there happened to be 4 strip clubs and people hanging around in the street without any purpose.

Amazing service and amenities. There are even activities for residents to join for free, eg Yoga class. The lobby is well decorated with a coffee shop/bar, and working space. There is also a rooftop bar. Best part of this place is there is a washing + drying machine in room, with free detergents given to us. 100% recommend.
