Stayed here recently on business. The staff and the food in the bar was really great. The streak outside the hotel is so calming after a long day however that is where the positives end. I found the receptionist at check in abrupt and unfriendly and when you are away from home, travelling with work, it makes such a difference to see a welcoming smile when staying in a hotel, and this was missing. Limited conversation, even though I tried to engage in conversation. I had asked for a quiet room and to my disappointment, my room was directly over the kitchen fan. It was so loud so I went to reception to ask what time it would be turned off, after an abrupt response from same receptionist so said, do you just want to move rooms. Again, I was trying to be polite and not make a big deal but felt very uncomfortable from her body language and tone and honestly, felt very low the rest of the evening and just wanted to be at home. I was moved to another room and this was fine...the bed was uncomfortable and decor a bit dated but was much quieter. Again at breakfast I was met with an abrupt welcome from the young man. Breakfast was OK, not a great selection for someone looking for healthy options. From these interactions I was happy to get in my car and get to work early. I understand working in hospitality and dealing with public can be challenging but when a customer is genuinely trying to be nice, there is no excuse for making someone feel like an inconvenience.
