Bird Day Boutique Hotel

We had a lovely stay at Bird Day Boutique Hotel. Great value for money, very clean, amazingly comfortable bed, and good off-street parking. Easy to get to most places in Mukdahan. Right next to Big C. We would definitely stay again if in Mukdahan.

Mukdahan City Center
It is one of the hotels that are very impressive, especially the quality of the bedding and the cleanliness of the hotel. Guarantee that the pillows are very soft, sleeps very comfortable, the location is convenient because it is located in the center of the city, traveling to the Mekong River, takes only 3-5 minutes, near the night market, the Ma Rich Market, near Robinson, near Makro, near Big Z. The quality of the service here is considered 5 stars.

Mukdahan City Center
I stayed here because it is only about a 10 minute walk from the bus station and I arrived on a late night bus. Walk in rate was same as booking in advance and check in was very painless - just supplied my passport and signed a single piece of paper. The room was small and bare and the fit and finish was a bit rough around the edges. I did stay again a few days later and the second room was in better condition. The mattress was very different to any other hotel I have stayed in, in Thailand. It was soft to the touch, and then had a firmer under mattress. This made for a very comfortable bed. The pillows were well stuffed and gave me a good nights sleep. The hotel offered no food at all (except for crisps and pot noodles at reception) but did offer free 'Nescafe' machine coffee from 6AM. It was enough to get me started but I am not keen on this sort of coffee - but that is just personal taste. There is a 7/11 within about a 10 minute walk from the hotel if you want more substantial snacks or drinks. One room I had offered an electric water heater shower - which was fine. The other room had hot water plumbing that was super hot at night, so beware, and freezing cold in the morning. There is no wardrobe, just a few hangers, so leave your gear in you bag... As with many Thai hotels - there is a staircase that runs to the top of the building - with no doors - so in the even of a fire - the smoke would soon reach every floor... Luckily there is a nice lift for those who can't make it up the stairs.
Villa Thiwa Hotel
4.1/54 Reviews
Situated along the highway, the outlook of Villa Thiwa Hotel looks nice and inviting but the room shows signs of wear and tear. The entire compound has 3 blocks: A, B & C which houses some long term tenants on block A while blocks B & C are for short term guests. This is a family-run hotel and checking in was simple which required a 100 THB deposit for the key card. The room shown in the picture looks new and bright but in actuality, it was half bright and looked somewhat tired. The bed lamps in the picture were absent and hence making the room half-bright or some may refer to as dark. Water pressure is good and hot water is constant for a freezing temperature of December. It is a non-smoking room but ashtray can be found on the balcony attached to the room. I am a non-smoker and fortunately, there isn't any cigarette smell in the room. Breakfast was simple with self-help coffee, toasts, meatball rice soup, and Vietnamese rice noodles just to keep your hunger away and not meant for a sumptuous meal. Overall, the price for a night stay is around 500 THB which somewhat makes it attractive even though it is out of nowhere and every choice of destination outside the hotel would require a taxi. I would recommend for a night stay if you are passing through provided you have transport.
