Island View Hotel Bar Harbor

For a simple motel charging nearly $299 for the first night and $409 for the second night, before approximately $60 in taxes, this was truly awful. First, nobody came to make the bed or provide us with dry towels after the first night, and given how humid the room was, this was a problem. Second, the end table light didn’t work - probably just a bad bulb, but because nobody made up the room, nobody saw the note I left to advise management of the problem so it could be fixed (and I note that there are large portions of the day when nobody is in the office). Third, the drain stopper barely allowed water to drain out of the sink. And finally, the Venetian blinds in the only window in the unit were completely inadequate for purposes of providing privacy or darkening the room, and this problem was exacerbated at night by the lights outside. All told, the room only had bare necessities, felt more like a $60/night motel, and it appears that management/ownership is not concerned about the comfort of its guests at all.

Loved the view from our room and that there were chairs to sit by the water. Not a fan of the fence, but can’t help that. Easy drive to and from Acadia NP and Bar Harbor. Rooms were clean, but boring. Needs some art or some other variation. Felt small, but was comfortable. Would have loved an extra blanket.

The backyard facing the river was very nice. We only stayed one night, but the walls are paper thin. We could hear the people next door like they were in bed with us.

The office staff was very nice and the office is beautiful. Parking was very easy. The room we stayed in smelled extremely musty, the shower was dirty and the shower handle was broken. No screen on the slider and the air conditioner was not usable as it had such a bad odor it made the room smell worse. We will not return again, definitely not worth over 200 dollars a night.

Only good thing was the nice guy at check in hotel was musty,run fown,bathroom floor,showercurtain was dirty.This place is not fit and after chatting with 2 ******* reps got a $270 refund n spent $1018 bucks ruined our visit.

Staff was most helpful and friendly. Only complaint was area in front of sink was too small. Perhaps if bathroom door swung inward instead of outward, It would work better. What can I say, but a man must have designed it! Just ask a woman next time! We enjoyed 2 quiet restful nights. Thank you
